I bought a 300zx about 5 weeks ago. We bought it from a guy that imported it personally. It has a Electronic boost controller, the two settings are 0.65 bar and 1.00 bar. But when you put your foot down the boost goes right up to 1.2 bar on the boost guage, no matter on what setting you are... Should I just leave it as it is or should I get it checked out? And might this be the reason why it is a bit on the heavy side of fuel consumption? Oh, and how much boost can the engine take with stock internals?

    Thanks,
    Juan

1.2 bar is too much, there isn't enough fuel available on stock injectors for that amount of boost without increasing the fuel pressure.

have had that same problem with ecb's fitted o/s japan.
No matter what setting you changed the ebc to, the boost remained the same, even when turned off!Older style HKS controllers are the main culprets. The way forward is to get rid off the pos, and the mile's off pipeing that goes with em. 1.2 is a little high imo.

more boost = more fuel, so I'd say that could very well be a cause of excessive fuel consumption! :)

You dont want to lean out that's for sure, detonation is not your friend!

So how high can I boost on stock injectors and fuel pressure? Is 15psi ok? As I know that many on here do so with a stock setup, and I am intending on doing the same myself once I get my FMIC fitted, along with a dynotune.

12psi stock, 15psi with ecu edit, 17psi with upgraded intercoolers. IMHO.

well, don't leave it as is. i'd suggest you reinstall the boost controller, and if it still doesn't work then its probably screwed. just install a bleed valve or something.

    No. Not at all.

SAFC allows not way in order to expand the maps beyond the current load limits.

The stock map load limit is around 13psi. So anything above that and the ecu is taking values from the very right hand side of its map, and guessing what to do.

That's why it suggested not to run over 13psi before an ecu mod. Because the maps just aren't scaled for it.

Any idea when the stock injectors max out? Do they have an efficency range limit?

Stock injectors @ 13psi @ 6400 rpm are running around 86% duty cycle. There are people who have been daily driving on 17 psi without issue on the stock injectors, but they are probably very close to maxing out at that boost.

Definitely. Where did you hear you could only get it for manuals?

Cool, so 15psi with FMIC and dynotuned ecu should be sweet.

I was just worried due to the earlier post saying that stock injectors would max out at 1.2 bar :(

1.2 bar is over 17 psi dude. Not too much of a worry there.

Yeah I just did the conversion, its about 17.4 psi. I should of checked it earlier as im not very familiar with readings in Bar.

1.2bar is 17.4PSI or there abouts and that would be a little much for the stock injectors
