Hey guys, anyone know if the zeds can get bonnet struts? If so, what type of struts do they need? thanks

find out the weight of the bonnet and then go to autobarn and get struts suited to that weight.

I used a single 20nm strut on mine, did have a 40nm on it but it was a bit too strong. Get one with an extended length of 300mm and mount it from one of the bonnet hinge bolt to the strut tower. I sourced mine from a local company that makes trailers, they had quite a large range. It was only about $15.00.

I might do this too my bonnet stay has had it and the clips are all broken. dual struts ftw. :D

The red TT in the latest SA, tech day has them.

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

There was a kit you can buy including brackets and appropriate strut that is a bolt on kit basically. can't remember where i saw it now as it was a long time ago. might be on here, or might be on 3ZC. But like Eric said, it's probably just as easy to make something up yourself for it to work.

if you end up fitting the struts, might be worth taking note of the item used, where you purchased it from and doing up a tech.

i reckon a few of us on here would love to do the mod and would be very thankful for someone showing us the way.

maybe i should get off my ass and do the tech! will add that to the ever growing list of things to do on the zed :D

there was a thread on this a while ago... something about it could crack the paint because of all the pressure it put on a single point..

    maybe a search will reveal

I don't think I'd be putting struts on an alloy bonnet that isn't designed for them.

You wouldn't be attaching them to the bonnet, but to the steel hinge and shock tower.
