no but I'd still recommend one for their extra flow.. the turbos won't slow as much between shifts.

you might want to test your recircs some day too.

How would I do about testing them?

I was running Turbosmart V-Ports but ended up taking them off -
    A) to stop the clouds of black smoke on gearchanges, and
    B) to stop unwanted attention from the boys in blue....they were seriously loud, and being illegal in QLD........... :zlove:

Pssssstt - Just fitted turbosmart type 1 blow to air

I have an auto (with Shift at will) so i can make them go off when I want, or not as when the plod is around, love the the sound like airbrakes going off, quite loud so I wait till I am alongside in an overtake to let them off, particularly after nailing a 4wd or caravan thats held me at 80klms for ages, a way of giving them a pissed off hiss !!
Not reticulating, understand about AFM measures and keeping the air but if it goes rich for a split second, the throttle is closed right... so it wont do any damage like detonate or anything. I may get weary of them in time but for now good fun.

Factory recircs will bleed boost as the spring tension is designed for stock boost vacuum lines help but they will still bleed as the spring rate is pre set and designed for the factory boost. Aftermarket BOV's are adjustable for different boost settings. I had my car on the dyno and when the BOV's were set properly the car was holding boost flatter and made a few kw's extra.

Twin bov's is always better than one another big pipe to balance out flow etc is a waste of time and money and only causes restrictions. If on a tight budget and dont want ultimate performance go the one with a balance tube otherwise go a full cnc machined big bore turbosmart valve I had the GFB ones then bought the Turbosmart before fitment due to the larger bore size and better overall build quality. But then again my car is built for a purpose and thats to win races so need every last kw we can squeeze out of it.

so if i want to turn my boost up to 14psi are the retrics still going to be good enough?????

14psi is low, technically u dont even need a bov period at such low boost levels

If you want to risk turbo damage dont fit em but nearly all car manufacturers that use turbos use some form of boost bleed device to prevent compressor surge and compressor stalling which will fark turbos pretty quickly.

If worried about it just keep the stock ones and save the cash. They will bleed boost but will be legal and are better than nothing at all.

Saying you dont need a BOV on a turbocharged car especially a Z32 is like saying you dont need a wastegate!!!!

ohhh ok....so its something to put on my to do list then :D why didnt nissan put them on??? were they around then? were the retrics just designed to handle the stock 9psi?

Are you saying your car doesnt have BOV's because if its a TT it will have them fitted. Remove the nose panel and look down either side to the back bottom edge of the a/c fan you will see one each side (see tech section for good pics)

The factory items are pretensioned non adjustable items to help prevent damaging compressor surge and stalling associated ah hell read the link BlackHeartedProfit posted its all there.

If your car doesnt have them is it an N/A conversion or something

As zx2nv has said a few times the stock recircs leak at anything much over stock boost so you will be over working your turbos to get a boost increase over this point. On my car I find after about 12psi I have to make more adjustment on the boost controller to get an increase than at lower pressure. With the recircs blocked off I can easily turn it up to 16psi. If you intend to boost to 14psi on stock turbos I would definitely reccomend some form of aftermarket pressure release, otherwise you could be working your turbos as hard as they would be worked to make 18psi and only be getting 14 plus a bunch of heat.

the bottom line is that it is pointless trying to run 14psi with the stock recircs, if you want to run 14psi you have to get aftermarket bov's, if you just remove your recircs and dont install bov's you will stuff your turbos

Most people just want that "really cool noise to scare people lolz!" not realizing that compressor surge is only a real issue when working with medium to high boost applications like 20-30psi+ etc
