Ok, enough teasing here it is! It's been a long time coming but all finally fell into place. The carbon pieces are actually a print transfer that is shaped and moulded to the piece and sealed in a full gloss clear. They were done by Modicoat in Brisbane. Although I was very happy with the final product it also came with great frustration of a very poor quality item the first time round and the weave direction different on the cam covers to the throttle cable cover which is something I was very specific about. The transfer on the throttle cover was blotchy as well and also a few runs form the clear was evident in places. The fan shroud was done during the second round and by now this guy was well aware of the standard I was expecting so needless to say it came out great the first time. Engine bay has been stripped back to bare and the seam sealer removed from the strut tower seams then stich welded and filled along with the spot weld craters for silky smooth finish. The bay then got a new coat of factory spec silver and three coats of two pac clear. As you can see the new colour is as vibrant as the panels on the outside but the gloss is incredible! Other features include; Barely Legal Performance (aka 300luva) Radiator Airguide Caz Racing Stainless Induction Hard Pipes CZP Koyo Stainless Radiator Bracket Full Polished Coolant Hard Pipes, CAS and Backing plate supplied by Caz Racing Various Chromed pieces including power steering reservior by Barely Legal Performance GZA engine dress-up kit Smithy's Stainless Large and Small Fuse Box covers and Throttle Cable Cover Strip I have a couple more things I want to do to finish it off, something with the HICAS solenoid and ASCD actuator and a couple of other small things. Very happy with the end result even though Wizard told me I will be sorry for doing it, only time will prove that but I'm sure he is right
It looks wicked. What is that chrome cylinder on the passenger side in front of the shock tower which has a line attached to the fuel hard line
Raising the Bar There Karl, looking very schmik. Lot of time and effort gone into that, enjoy. Top engine bay at the next Zed fest will be a hard fought contest, with many contenders now putting their hand up. Now the hard part begins Karl, keeping it looking that way.
BLINGINE BAY!!! Just don't go drifting through dirt roads. Or as poor Caz found, get stuck behind some bastard in a red Zed who decides to go drifting/sliding through the dirt Looking good Karl, Sean
hi 90ttz, what is the name of that blood red paint you have used on various pipes at the rear of the plenum and the throttle bar ??? cheers by the way the engine bay looks very nice
Not good Karl... I'm getting BLING pains AbZolutely magic! :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
mmmm so very tasty karl! i hate you! can i ask you to go into more detail on the stich welding of the seams and bogging it up, etc??? pics, etc would be great? or maybe thats an MSN thing?
Great work Karl... Can see a lot of thought has gone into it (as well as time & money ) but it has paid off. What is the thing that you fuel line connects to infront of the LHS strut?
BLINGAPATED!!!!! That looks sweeeeeeeeet man. good work, You have given me a few tips for my bling upgrade. cool mate. cheers Zedipated:zlove:
just way toooo wucking bootiful, karl ... and now .. to hide the ugly battery in a blingy box ( have just done mine a la unca wizard), aunty caz's s/s fuel lines ( received mine today ..wooot) and those two thingys next to the clutch reservoir ( these are easily spay painted "in situ" with a heap of masking .... and look good in a gloss black ..just to finish that area off ..).. but at the end of the day .. simply magic, karl....!!!! :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
B-H-P .. tht red looks much that used by both zed4life and myself ... dupli-color "metal cast" , a two coat system comprising a ground coat and an annodised top coat ... available from super cheap in 3 colours only .. this red, purple and a blue, i think .. around $16.00 per can for each the ground coat and the top coat ... others such as baron, have just used a heat proof paint with a wider colour choice ... :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: edit: in the header, whack in a "like" between much .... (like) .... that used ..... waarrghhhh ..!!!
Absolutely Bloody fantastic Karl No Skid pan days for you, It'd break your heart so see the mess it makes . Hope you can keep it up to standard , at least until we can all get to see it
Lets keep adding silver Zed bling shots, Caz, Fleet, Wizard? Looks tops M8 (I'd do a thumbs up but somebody forget)
That looks as good as everyone is saying, very nice job there dude. Wizard is right, there's going to be a whole lot more effort going into the engine bays for next years Nationals for sure Looking forward to seeing it in person! Well done!
