so i give my 300zx a workout last night, really showing there potential! impessing power, tourque, and handling though the wet,(hadn't driven it for almost 4 months ) and at the worst time possible, it slowly dies down, putting the foot flat it floods itself and stalls, took it to a mechanic today, he was somewhat puzzled, as the car wouldn't come on to boost, it would idle fine, but if u gave it a slight rev, it knew there wasn't something right, and would pulse its self between 1500 and 600rpm, we determined that the turbos are fine, and its an air/fuel problem, i assumed it is a dirty air flow meter n its died and that i should get a new one, but the mechanic said could still be a number of things, any idea what they could be? i'm racing against a clock coz as you guys have probably already read the defect thread... tell me your thoughts cheers
sorry mate, AFM is Air flow meter , and CAS is crank angle sensor , thats the circular thing on the front of the motor
If it's an AFM, just whack conzult on the car, and you'll soon tell. Approx 1.4v at idle and should naturally vary with engine speed and throttle position. Might also be your TPS, as Zed4life had similar trouble one day. If you are manual, you can disconnect the tps connector and see if it makes an improvement.
conzult is a program that comunicates to the ecu (computer) in your car. It will give you information about how the various sensors are performing, which can highlight certain issues. The tps is the throttle positioning sensor.
