the big job has been confirmed and will be taking place at home. all parts compiled are just a rough idea of my shopping list. i am not going to just pick a place who will sell them and hand over the money but i will hunt around by word of mouth, contacts, and the web. tools will is not an issue as i can source them. i have a magician who has currently trying to master the 1000+ page 300zx manual and if need be, a friend of his who used to be the chief mech for a local subaru rally team should be able to help. i will be doing some track work starting from the 17th and will be planning on doing so every weekend or fortnight. finally my dream has come true and test myself on the tracks. anyway here is my to do/shopping list. would be appreciate if anyone can share their opinions on the items i've got on the list. i have not specified any brands, dimensions, sizes, ratios, or anything like that as i do not intend on buying the biggest and the greatest but just though internals that would be considered mild upgrades. about to go through the manual soon to get an idea of the work being done but after weeks of discussion with the magician he is confident it can be done. ok the shopping list: Shopping list: Engine: EGR Bypass kit Cams VTC Springs Pistons + rings Conrods Stronger Rod Bolts Thicker gaskets Crank Pulley Cam Pulleys Lighter cam sprockets Engine Mounts timing belt Ported Plenum - upper Ported Plenum - lower ported clinder heads bored throttle bodies Injectors Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Fuel Damper HPC coated fuel rails All hoses to be replaced Suspension: bushes Driveline: Clutch Flywheel One-piece tailshaft Exhaust: exhaust manifold - ported dump pipes to suit turbos Electronics/Wiring: EFI Loom ECU/engine management system Other: gb oil cooler Cooling: Twinpass radiator Silicone Hoses Intake: FMIC Hardpipe kit + silicone turbos: thinking of a pair of T04 + external wastegates. Specs of my ride are in my profile. with the setup above perhaps the first thing that might break is the tailshaft, or maybe the diff. still currently looking for bigger brake rotors and calliper options at the moment. edit: ah yes, nearly forgot, the turbotech might not cut it for this setup as i will need something that can switch track or street mode. and remember, all tools including honing the internals are available. i will only require the parts which should be available in my doorstep by feb/march. currently fabricating a ramp to suit and a tripod (free )for the engine pull will be driven interstate at around November. i will be buying lots of snags and beer Cheers
Hi Chino, I ended up having my 1 piece tailshaft built in Sydney. That doesn't mean you can't get it done locally but I had a couple of local businesses pay token attention, got totally piXXed off and went to a company I knew that had a proven track record. Anyway, will be fitting this early next week, but am certainly happy with the workshop that fabricated all pieces. Uni joints are now all replaceable and I have all part no.s etc. Guess I'll find out what other drive/suspension probs I have once I fit this. cheers, Peter
