Also heaps of opinions...it will all depend on what the condition of your motor is like. I'd stick with Nissan recommended weight in full synthetic. So a 15w/40 oil in your favorite fully synthetic brand. I use Penrite myself, but not gospel.

Best oil is Mobil 1 10W30 or 10W40 :D . Nah seriously, alot of different opinions out there. I do use Mobil 1 myself and I doubt there's anyone who would say it isn't good, but everyone has a favourite brand. Just make sure you use something fully synthetic.

And as for weight, get something (10-15)W(30-40) ish.

Here is my understanding. If I'm wrong, someone correct me, as this is what I've picked up, but I have read conflicting information to this.

Basically, first number (can range from 0 to over 50 I believe) shows thickness of oil when cold. Too thin, it won't protect a cold engine, too thick it will take too long to coat the moving parts on startup.

Second number (again, ranges from like 0 or 5 to over 60) is thickness of oil when hot. Too thin, it won't protect your engine in high revs, too thick it makes the engine work harder, which means you're losing power. It's a balancing act.

A higher number means the oil is "thicker" or flows slower.

There are so many out there saying they are the best it makes finding the best oil like finding a one ended stick.
    I myself use royal purple

Who Australia's top workshop? Fleet was using Mobil 1 in his services recently :p

Just stick with a brand name like Mobil 1, Redline, Penrite, Amsoil etc. etc. and you'll be right.

Hey and welcome another SA member

Hey there.. welcome to the forum.. nice to see another SA member...

the zeds from new use a 10/ 40w semi synth oil.. but since the cars are now 15 years old, most, including me use a 15/40 or 15/50. I use either Valvoline or Penrite.

Tell us about your zed.. is it a stockie or a hot beast?

if u drive it hard then go full synthetic to handle the stress.

If your from the west side go to Sprints Kilkenny. They look after me and all my zed bits. See Simon and tell him Frank sent ya and youll get a trade price.

Good luck and maybe see you on a Zed run.

MOTUL 300v is the 1 for the 300z

MOTUL IS $$$$$$ BUT GREATE over cheap oil u can feel a slight gain in power and its grate 300V full synthetic with ester technoligy (wat ever that means lol) 15 50 is the go 4 me i luv motul but thats me and my z 4 u it might be different but seriously motul is the go and if your turbo seals are gone and you are burning some oil the motul will cover that up its also a trick some car yards use to cover up cars that have blown piston rings nd stuff

it might smoke a bit some times but hardley ever notice a must if you dont want to get pulled over for it if you do get pulled over just say oh i must have put too much oil in my engine this morning lol

motul is the one 4 me

Royal Purple is really good, it's the only synthetic oil I've found that comes in 20w50. Mobil super synthetic 10W40 is also very good. For a non-synthetic Pennzoil GT Street Machine is top of the line.

I havent used Redline motor oils, but I've used their gear oils and they are just brilliant so I'd trust their other fluids aswell.
