i feel like there'll be a few more questions along the way, so i thought i'd just keep it all in one thread.

i've managed to get the intake cam seals off, but the exhaust ones really don't wanna budge, i'm trying it at different angles with a screw driver and hammer, as well as a punch, but it doesn't wanna move. can anyone suggest another plan of attack?

also my crank sprocket is seized on good and tight, silly me doesn't have cutting tools and cold chisels or anything like that.....would someone around ferntree gully feel like lending a hand?

    thanks again

the seal------ use a small size flat head screw driver and a hammer (2-3 pounds), from 45degree angle, give it a BIG bang, then pry it out. be very careful dont damage the housing.

Crank sprocket------- spray HEAPS freezer stuff, wait for a while. it should help.(i just used a screw driver to pry the sprocket out after spraying heaps freezer)

it looks like i've dented it, but it's still not coming out, if i manged to tear out the rubber bit, would a seal puller be able to fit under it and get the ring?

the crank sprocket won't budge either, it's a pain in the ass coz i can't really do much until i get through these two bits

Buy yourself a 4" cheapy angle grinder for $40, a cold chisel for $5 and you should have a hammer. Carefully cut the sprocket above the keyway as much as you can without damaging the oil pump housing. Then give it a good old wack with the cold chisel and hammer. You'll hear a nice crack and it will slide off.

As for the exhaust seals I use a small screwdriver, gently tap it into the middle of the seal section and try and get it under the steel spring bit inside. Then just carefully lever out. Be EXTRA careful that you don't scratch the cam or the heads as they will leak forever then

Drill and crack method is pretty safe.

as sad as it is, i'm throwing in the towel on this one. i don't have much time off with work, and when i do, i'm either way too tired to do anything or it's raining.

does anyone know of someone who does call out jobs for this kind of thing? i would really prefer someone on the forum with a good reputation and not a lubemobile sort of company.

if anyone wants to help me out pm me and we can discuss cost in regards to what i'm up to.

    thanks again

I had the same problem with the bottom crank sproket. ended up with an angle grinder and cut the s***t outta it. after that i was told to use a drill bit and a hole punch.

Even with the angle grinder it was still hard, i did hit the oil pump, but it didnt go thru. highly doubt it would leak as it didnt go thru.

To make it worse the engine was on a pallet and still had a world of problems.

You're nearly there, just try a bit harder. Once the sprocket and oil seals are out that's the hard bit done. Putting it all back together is pretty easy :D

just try one more time, give it a big bang, then pry it out.
i was scared to die when i did it, tried many many time but failed. at last i was angry and then gave it a bang! oh did it.
you need to hammer it at a good angle.

    you can do it!
