    Hi
Jsut thought I would pass on a helpful tip for running in a new motor

Go and buy a magnetic sump plug, it will collect the metal particles and stop them moving around in the oil and going back through the system.

You still have to change oil as per running in times, but they are worth there weight in gold - especially after youve seen them at work collecting the metal filings

They are good to have regardless - $20 is pricey (ebay) but they are still worth every cent - metal particles are a killer in any motor and they tend to hang around the crank bearings!

    Cheers

And most of the magnetic sump plugs don't fit the Zed, they are too long.

Not worth the hassle IMO. It'll get caught on the plug or in the filter (or pickup strainer if they are big enough).

Mag plugs for diffs and gearboxes where you don't have filters.

If you buy it to fit a 300ZX - it should fit or its not made for a ZX (you got the wrong one - LOL ) - Mine fits fine.

Both the plug and filters should be used on a motor running in, given what they do. Race Engineers tend to use them given they are under high rpm

The filters will strain the particles in the flowing oil (lighter alloy particles) but they dont catch the heavier particles near the bottom of the crank/case
The plugs will collect the heavier larger particles that will hang around the sump but they dont collect the lighter flowing deposits.

Both are a good investment - certainly diff / box sump plugs is not a bad idea either but not as warranted as a whole motor giving off metal particles from wear/friction
