Hi guys, Well after 9 months off the road, I finally picked up the Blue beast today from the sprayers! I made a decision 9 months ago that I was going to do some basic maintenance work on the Zed as a way of learning more about my car and as a bit of a 'project'... Little did I know I would spend a lot longer at it than I expected! Thought I might take a quick chance to tell the story of my Zed. Fresh off the boat from Japan: The days of two Zeds!: I then decided to take the car off the road and do some maintenance work. This included: - FMIC - HKS Pod filter - PWR radiator and Thermo fan (with thermatic switch) - Water bypass hoses etc - A HEAP of new silicon hoses and water hoses round the place - A E-Boost EBC - Relocated PTU - AIV, PVR, CC deletes - PCVs, IACV and Heater core hoses all replaced - New battery (which I shorted just before finishing...) - Spoole300zx's Jspec taillights I then picked up a new GReddy urethane front bar from Baz and proceeded to stare at it for months while I finished the work I was doing... Finally got it fitted last week: Picked it up today from Gloss Refinishers in Queanbeyan. Leo did a great job! Sorry for the crappy (5Mp!) phone pics. Still have some work to do to finish it off, such as the splash guards and a metal brace that goes where the pod is, but for the moment... It runs and looks great! Was so happy to see that after a complete novice like me tinkered with most parts of the car, wireed in an EBC and thermo fan etc, I managed to get it running, better than ever! Big thanks to this forum for all the guides that I printed out to do everything
Looks awesome - can't go wrong with that Greddy bar...... Have you got any more pics of the interior? Looks awesome from what I can see
a fine looking zed .. congrats on your work .... good stuff ... 2 Qs: ... is that front bar the one that "baz" had his issues with ...???? ... the bonnet looks to be sitting "high" .. or is the bonnet open ...????
Looks good Dan, well done with all the work you've done. The front bumper seems to sit funny, compared to the pic of it pre-painted. Seems to be droopy in the middle, or is it just me? Also, bonnet on the passanger side looks to be sitting high.
Cheers for all the comments guys. It certainly is nice to at least have it driving again. Yup Simmo, right on both counts. Something I didnt think of when I got the new front bar was the fact that it didnt come with the centre brace. So I am currently missing the bit that the green arrows indicate in this pic: So I am on the hunt for a dead front bar that I can harvest the brace from. At the moment it sits on the FMIC bracket, so I'm not too worried... its just not quite 'right'. Also, the bonnet came back wonky, so I have to play with the rubber stops etc to line it up again... Just didnt notice until after the photos. Cheers guys. Dan
Not legal here in the ACT either... I just wanted to wait till I get slimline plates to drill the holes... I'm sure I can leave them there for a couple of days/weeks...
WOW gorgeous Z and what front mount intercooler is that ? do you know Looks great now hope to see it in person one day.. just a quick question, see how your Front mount is perfectly level up and down, does it matter if a front mount is on a slight angle (say 15 degrees).. ?
Give me back my paint job! Very, very nice indeed Dan! you should be very proud of that beast you have there. Stunning! .... oh, and great colour too :zlove:
Fantastic looking Z DanZed! Looks like you done very well for yourself, love the new front bar. Only thing I would change if it were my Z is the windscreen wiper arms, you may like them now as they match in colour but after a year or two I think you (like Renee did) will find they look tacky and a set of stock wiper arms with a fresh coat of gloss or matt black paint will look far classier. But sweet Zs :zlove: Cheers! Craig
Yeah thats what I thought in 2003. Picked up Z from spray painter, Stillen bar just fitted. No bracket for plate - fit to sunvisor, "she'll be right for 2 weeks". 2 days later drive to Qld for 2003 Nationals, there for 3 days, got ticket for failing to display number plate in proper manner - 3 points, $100 (?) fine. Get a bracket arranaged a.s.a.p.!!! But looking good, Dan ... you're in ACT - so after recent events, keep her secure!
