I was talknig to a automatic mechanic and he told me that there are 2 types of autos in z's. One is very under built and fails with only minor increase of power and one is quite strong. Does any one know if this is true or not and how i identify which is which. The reason im asking this is with my current rebuild i was looking at getting the auto rebuilt but if it wont handle that much power ill put in a manual gearbox to save the heart ake. thanks for any advise Scrubber
if your going to rebuild your box, just get everything toughened....toughen the internals of the box and you would have a very strong box...if its the life your worried about i would rather toughen the box then do a conversion to manual.... get a nice cooler to help with its life aswelll!!!!!!!!!! all real drag cars have auto boxes...but u can just imagine how strong they would be....talk to your mechanic about strengthening the box and im sure you'd think twice about converting to manual.
i was gonig to get the gearbox beefed up a bit but what i was told is that if i have the weak one ill turn it in to a box full of metal shaveings with my tweaked up tt motor i just do want any trouble i hate blowing things up i cant stand that oh crap feeling in the guts and then chaseing my wallet as it gets scared and runs is just no fun
There were only two variants that were fitted to the Z32. The Jatco RE4R01A which was fitted to the N/A and the RE4R03A, the stronger of the two fitted to the TT.
thanks for that info that was what i was after for once good news it also means im a little closer to getting it back on the road :zlove:
