Just did a full engine rebuild + new turbos Put it all back together to find out I wouldn't drive I took the auto into a shop and the said it's seen better days and they can do new torque converter seals and bushes for $900 to get it back to standard Or a rebuild with stall converter and other upgrades for $2500 Just curious to know what are my other options? Or what other people would do in this position Thanks from Rory
For $2500 rebuild it and NEVER look back. I paid exactly that to do mine which already had the valve body modified and LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. Running an external oil cooler instead of using the radiator (which is rubbish) and full synthetic oil. It makes a huge difference. It does not compare to a 20+YO box (and sorry to say, even a manual box). It's so responsive. No slippage. Now running 12-14lb boost. Put your foot down and DISAPEAR with super fast gear changes. Best money I paid. :zlove: :zlove::br: Also, it's a good time to change the centre bearing and g/box mount. Centre bearing is a no big deal to change. Can be bought on ebay for under $100, takes all of 15-20minutes to change with a pulley puller. The Z will be soooo smooth. Unless if the universal joints are stuffed. If stuffed, go 1piece and get it over and done with. Peter
If you did a rebuild and new turbos (assuming larger) hen you'll want a rebuild, stock auto boxes have issues near 300rwkw
Yea mv autos knows there stuff. I got my stage 2 valve body from them/shift kit good to hold 400rwkw. But honestly id be putting money towards 6 or 8 speed auto to fit and work properly on the zed. That would be cool.
