hi there have an NA auto blew the last box lost all gears and box locked up, no neutral just enough drive to get on the drive, removed the knackered NA box changed for a TT autobox with all nessecery parts went well for 100 miles the blew same patch of road, same speed, this time TT box started to grind then bang, had lost reverse and 1st was on the way to a show,

thought sod it im going drove to show while there had no gears but 3rd no O/D either, had neutral as could push car back, drove home in 3rd covering 300 miles round trip,

what im asking is is there anything that could have caused this second box to blow like the first one ie TPS etc,
yes i know the best thing would be to convert to manual but my partner is having the zed later when i get a new one so she was auto

can anyone give me some idea as dont want to replace again for the same to happen,
system was fully flushed before fitting new box and oil and used dexron 2 auto box oil

    many thanks

I dont really understand what you are saying but will have a guess.

Your first box stopped shifting thru the gears, leaving you with only one gear ( i will assume second) to get the car moving.

Your second box has done the same as the last, but you say it is in 3rd.

Are your transmission cooler lines or trans cooler blocked causing your transmission to overheat badly?

The only thing that will cause a box to stick in one gear and not be internal to the gearbox is a blown trans controller fuse. This always results in the trans staying in second all the time, and o/d will not work.

first box started grinding then a loud bang and coasted to the side of the road had just enough drive to move it on to drive at home when was recovered back, box had locked up and couldnt select reverse to get it of the lorry had to pull it off then pulled it on to the drive,

second box TT one started to grind whent bang again vibration through the car drove to side of road, had no reverse or first but would pull away in second and drive but higher revs and slowly, coming back couldnt select reverse, box had no neutral wouldnt move in first/second managed to pull away in drive very slowly like box was slipping and eventualy got up to speed 0-60 about 40 secs box wouldnt change through any gears no overdrive change when button switch on and off and rev'd at 4200 at 70mph approx 110kph didnt change gear at all coming home was that slow pulling off that a pedesitrian could walk faster then me lol

all the oil lines and the cooler where flushed out under pressure and fluid went through freely

When you flushed it did you see any metal shavings in the oil transmission? That would be an obvious sign of gears goneski. The stock Auto transmission on the n/a had a scourer oil cooler which would clog up and restrict flow of the oil causing the gears to over heat. If you do not have a new radiator you might have to by pass the old oil coolant in the radiator and place a make shift one near the front. I had this issue once and it brought me to tears. Good luckwith it

Also there is a control module that regulates the revs. if its too high maybe that could be it

i used neat fuel on a electric pump to flush through the oil lines and rad cooler the torque converter had already been flushed and the box had been emptied and filter flushed all was clean and fluids passed through easy bos was emptied and the magnet cleaned before new box fitted, did have to adjust the TPS as was at .48 and i adjusted to to .44

there were fillings in the old box and lines new box came with new lines but still flushed all, when i drained out the oil from the TT box before taking it back out yesterday saw loads of brass fillings in the oil and the oil in the lines was clear pink thinking maybe the oil pump has died on it

Pink fluid is a good sign of coolant in the trans, Might be worth checking the cooler pipe work in the radiator. Coolant is not a very good lubricant in transmissions.

    if

if you find that lines are gone in the radiator put an aftermarket tranny cooler in front of the radiator. way better than stock options :)
