hi guys , im in the process of upgrading the entire soundsetup on the z , just wondering what the measurements are on the stock speakers at the front and back ? also what sort of setups are the members runin on the forum ? at the moment im thinking of jbl 6 channel gto series amplifier soundstream 2 chanel mono amp soundstream splits at the front jbl tweeters at the front pinoneer 6 x9's ( yellow ones ) 1 pioneer 12 subwoofer 1 jbl 12 sub woofer what do you guys reakon ?
Dont see the point of running 2 seperate woofers, better off two the same and running them in stereo, will produce better sound quality imho. Setup seams ok but not big on whats what in audio atm so couldnt comment on the quality of each individual component, however the JBL 6 channel is an ausome amplifier, looks good and produces some awesome sound, you may not need more than that unless you are planning to run it in comps, also, you have most of your sound coming from the rear have you though about the 6x9s going in the front to balance the sound a bit more I am running a Eonon DVD head unit with 4 x 45w output, I have the rears plugged into a set of 6x4" I also run a 1000w boss audio amplifier which powers 2 pioneer 6x9s in the doors and 2 tweeters run through a crossover and a 15" lightning audio subwoofer
The fronts are 6's The rears are 6x4's I have Soundstream 6 inch fronts, with door mounted Soundstream tweerers. In the rears I have Soundstream 6x4's with a 12 inch Soundstream sub ready for installation. I just need an amp... Soundstream!
6x9's in the front ? true , im actually after a balanced sound more than anything ..would'nt mind 6x9 in the front but my guess is it would requre some custom work ?
bit audio ? jus wondering if any1 has purchased stuff from bit audio on ebay , they seem to be selling some big brands at real good prices .
6x9`s in the front. U after sound or noise? Get some front spllits. Even get a modified plate and get some 6.5" splits.
sound definately !! ive got sound at the moment , would i be bale to get some good 6 inch splits for the front ?
Splits sound much better than 6x9's. And also, you're better off getting one good sub than two average ones. Because the 300 is a hatch, one good sub will be heaps of bass, especially if you buy a decent one. Check out www.sounddomain.com for reviews
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRAND-NEW-YO...yZ130668QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I Bought this amp a while back....and it is by far the best ive got. It has 3 ranges so you can plug in subs and speakers....ps ive also got alpine and pioneer amps Its cheap but ive found it much much better then the expensive brands
You have to worry about amps that don't specify RMS power. That one doesn't once mention RMS power, and straight away that should tip you off to it being a cheaper brand. Your lucky if i works well for you, but I wouldn't push it too hard. These type of amps can have overheating and speaker damage issues from clipping.
al thought i bought a 1000W boss amp years ago for $100 new off ebay and it thumped my 15" and speakers something hard aye, wasnt too bad
My set up is: Jvc dvd head unit - kd-avx2 Jvc 6" splits up front - cs-fs6 Jvc 5" splits under the rear covers - cs-fs5 Alpine 4 channel amp running these Alpine momo block running subs. 2x Pioneer slim line 12" subs boxed. With the set up you are thinking I would have thought: jbl 6 channel gto series amplifier soundstream 2 chanel mono amp soundstream splits at the front ???????????? splits in the rear 2X SAME 12" subwoofers
On the eBay ad? I saw 4 x 400 max. output power but didn't see where it said 100 W per channel...but yeah, these ones can be good, though I think there's a lot of variation between each unit made by these sort of companies. Some are great, some not so much.
hey mate, looks alright, but may i suggest: Splits up front Nothing or a small set of 6x4's or 4's in the rear two subs in the boot (can get away with one) amp for sub amp for splits run rears off the deck its all personal choice, but personally, i wouldn't bother with 6x9's, they are a waste of speaker. you should only really use them if you need something for the rear, and aren't using a sub. their shape is designed to give you a teeny bit of bass, they don't usually give much, and the reason for the bass they give is to compensate for lack of subwoofer. in terms of subs, if your going for 2 or more, try to keep to the same brand. different subs have different properties, box size etc. Best to buy two or more of the same brand, or even just spend the money and buy 1 really good sub. just something worth considering - over the years, i've had quite a few setups in a few different cars. found that in cars such as the zed, if your running splits in the front off an amp, you don't really need rears. as for subs, you can get the same, if not better sound out of one decent sub as opposed to 2 average subs. the reason i wouldn't bother with speakers in the rear, look at it this way. when you go to a concert, do you stand with your back to the stage? are you usually completely surrounded by speakers? in some cases, yes, but having surround sound with speakers is something more for TV's etc. and watching movies in your car. just my opinion - some will not agree of course. as for buying stuff on ebay, you can get some great bargains, just be weary of things like warranty etc. Sometimes it costs more to buy through the store, but you get peace of mind that you get a warranty, and can physically see and inspect, sometimes hear the product before you buy. at the end of the day, its completely up to you, its your ears you want to be happy!! so go with what your after. good luck with it all, nothing more satisfying than driving the zed and the sound of great music, and a rumble from the exhaust!!!! Jay
I like some rear speakers for two reasons. 1.) It adds some rear, I like the sound to hit me from all directions, not seem to come from the front. If you turn up front splits you get this effect, but sometimes you don't want it so loud (rarely true hehe) and 2.) It actually helps mask the exhaust noise in a way fronts don't. Try playing with the fade on a 4 speaker setup and you'll see having some rear makes the exhaust interfere less with the sound. I totally agree that one good sub is much better than two average ones. Also, you don't want bass to drown out your mids and highs, unless your entering SPL comps, better off with just one good sub so the sound is balanced.
