guys, i'm kinda worried here, was working on the car today, trying to sort outmy idle, but after a few test runs up and down the road, i noticed a funny sound comming from the car when ever i hit boost, i don't know where or what, all i can think of is the turbo's. it's really hard to try and put the noise into letters, but it kinda sound like a whooooooooo noise, like the sound of a car horn heard from a long way away, and when you hold boost, it resonates, i had my dad take up and down while i heard and its alot more audiable heard from out side. WHAT IS IT!!!!!!!!! it goes WHOOOOOOOOOOO, and its driving me nuts. any help would be awesome, its really bad, but the thought of selling my baby has crossed my mind for a few seconds, before something goes terribly wrong. please any advice, thanks guys ash
Sounds like you've got GOOSE HONK. Anyone else got any suggestions other than that? Fate... becoming a ZEXPERT at noises
you sure it wasnt your dad just screaming WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! as he hit boost? sorry i have no idea so other than this useless crap i have nothing further to say goodluck
If they are rooted you would be getting a lot of smoke on idle Another sign is oil in your air filter
The noise you are describing sounds like the stock BOV's You may have a faulty BOV that is relieving pressure as soon as boost is on. How's your boost levels? Is the car still powering on OK?
Goose Honk - agreed. Does it sound just like blowing across the top of a stubbie - that's the best way to describe the goose honk on a AT. See Ya, Garry
YES!!!!! THATS IT thats exactly what it sounds like, like blowing over the top of stubbie, i was finding a bit hard to describe it. so it is goose honk then, what is it and is it bad. thanks guys, can always rely on you guys. ash
hahahahahaha, good point. i know thats what i sound like when ever i hit boost. lol.:LOL: thanks guys ash
The noise is caused by.....>> The stock recirc valves. Over time the springs in them get week and they can "flutter", making a noise which normally can't be heard through the stock airbox. Installing a pod makes the noise audible. You have three options, ignore it, buy new factory recircs, or buy an aftermarket set.
