Are HID kits legal? Blue = unRWC?

Can someone clear up the legislation/legality of HID kits? For the RWC I'm getting, I had to replace the kit with stock set up. Ok. but why did they state "blue lights are unacceptable?" BMW's & Mercs use blue LED lamps.

Autobarn suggested it may be that aftermarket kits don't allow for "self-leveling" as due the late model Euro cars. Would this be true? I just spent $100 & heaps of time removing the kit due to the piping in the TT, so I'm a little pissed. Luv to have this cleared up. Thanks guys

Yes, technically not road worthy. The colour is less important. I reckon my 6000K HID's are on par with the standard lights on 300C's.

    Not legal because:

Standard Projector lights are not designed for HID bulbs.
    No self levelers
    No headlight washers.

Easy. Without auto- washers and auto-levelling the HIDs are not approved. But if you fit them and aim them correctly you will never have a problem, unless your colour is so pink or so blue that it attracts the attention of you know who.

If your HIDs are for seeing rather than posing, get a set of 4300K "whiter than white" units and enjoy the difference. Some say that 6000K are also just as good, though a bit "blueish" for mine. Anything else is either highly pink or highly blue and a recipe for an interview with a member of the constabulary.

For mine, it is one of the best mods you can make to the Zed, but don't go overboard with the colour. Read up on the pexmod which allows all four to be on when on high beam and it is something you really have to experience to appreciate.

Thanks guys. This was what autobarn said. It was the "non self leveling" aspect. I just wonder why RWC shop stated the blue as being the problem. I understand the blue reverse LED's had top go & yeah the HID kit that I removed shut off the low beams when you switched to high beam, not both on at same time.

Was just pissed @ the expense for stockies after previous owner had installed the good stuff.........however, one of the low beam bulbs had started to melt the resin on back where harness socket connects to the pins  Not good :(
