Do you have sync on the modem?

Best thing to do is contact your ISP and see if telstra has provisioned your line yet, generally where I work a line is prov'd and ready to go with in 7 working days of submitting an order to Telstra. As for Cable being better yeah it is quicker though if you are on a node with a lot of heavy users your local area can be affected more than would be the case with ADSL.Who did you join with?RegardsMark

Plus you are stuck with Bogpond or Optu$

On a cable service, so you have a choice of being charged for Upload and download with Telstra, or being throttled to 28.8 with Optu$, wow what a choice!!

3gig or 6gig plans on cable. Wow. Cable might be faster than ADSL, but all that means is that you hit your limit quicker, and get throttled to a speed that is inadequate to even check email. Yeah, go cable go...

There are so many ADSL plans out there nowadays that, if you can, you're crazy not to take advantage of the features that health competition has offered. Just check out www.whirlpool.net.au for the providers.

I was on Optus 512 home cable for a year and a half, and it was great for the first two weeks of each month, before my flatmates and I would inevitably hit our limit. The last two weeks of each month was spent scratching and scraping for every last meg.

We're now on completely unlimited 512 adsl thru TPG. The small difference in speed is only noticeably when three or more users on my home LAN are throttling HTTP downloads, which happens hardly ever (and we're all excessive users). Add to that the fact that we regularly clock in excess of 30gig a month download, and adsl comes out way ahead.

    My two cents *cough cough*.
