I have a problem, last week I bought a zed in Brisbane with the help of Mark(zed4life) and I arranged it to be freighted down to Sydney. It came today and I am unable to start it. I have run a few simple tests with Mark on the phone and internet like adding more fuel, testing error code, listening for the fuel pump, and checked some fuses but still no luck with starting the car. The last thing left to do is to check the battery but I don't have a multimeter to do that at the moment. I was wondering if anyone in Sydney would be so kind as to have a look and check out the problem? I am in Eastwood. Thanks.
The plug on the LH side front to the Cas Push it in ,push in all the plugs on the motor. Can you twist the battery terminals , are they tight.
lights the lights are on before I turn on the ignition, it goes off when I crank it to start. If I continously try to start it the usual starting noise doesnt come up and then all i hear is a "rattling" noise.
That "rattling" noise is the starter solenoid.....>> And is a clear sign that the battery does not have enough power to start the car.
Re: lights if that rattling noise sounds anything like a "machine gun"...get a new battery...thats what i did
It's only just started doing this... was turning over just fine b4 but prob flattened due to numerous attempts. Volts could have been low to begin with but no voltmeter to test ...
BUMP: Anyone in Eastwood vicinity be able to assist Alv- You won't be disappointed!!! I can attest to his new zed being one of the best in Aus... The car is in concourse condition - and I mean 1st prize too !!!... It's a hackneyed phrase but I doubt its ever been driven on dirty/wet roads... The undercarriage detailing, cleanliness and paintwork would rival the quality of finish on most zed's exterior body panels... The bloody freighters took the entire front panel off (and left it off)...
Just in case Caz, doesnt have the tools, does NE1 else in Sydney have a spark plug socket and 12inch+ long extension to get poor Alv on the road ? We are pretty sure that the initial prob was lack of fuel, which was fixed but by then the combined efforts of the car carriers and then Alv trying to start it wore down the battery, now the battery prob is fixed, the plugs are probably fouled (as Wykked suggested)... You won't need to pull all the plugs, even just pulling and cleaning the front four (which are easy to get to) should get it started... What a way to start his zed ownership!!! Such a crying shame as the car checked out absolutely brilliantly in Brisbane.
Just want to get the thing to move It's sitting right in the middle of both my garages (that's where they decided to drop it off without consulting me and I thought it just needed a bit of fuel to get it running) so now no one can get access to both the car spaces and it's starting to annoy my parents.
They took off the front bar because the driver thought it might scratch the bottom when it was driving up onto the truck or on the trucks in Sydney. I've got all the pieces sitting here in my house, but to me, it looks pretty complicated to reassemble.
might be able to help out where is eastwood? anywhere near cronulla? Ive removed zed front bars a few times now, send me a PM if you need a hand.
Everything's ok I would like to say a big thanks to Henry(henryh) for his help today with cleaning the spark plugs and helping me put the front bar back on. Also thanks to Mark for his help and Caz and John for their offers.
Combination of problems caused by eachother 1st- no fuel (despite dealer attesting to putting in 10L) 2nd- battery went flat from cranking once fuel topped up 3rd- plugs fouled from cranking once battery fixed 4th- cleaned plugs and vroomm...
