Please don't flame me for asking. I know there's a thousand threads on this question which i have gone through but I am just confusing myself now. Long story short I blew a Tyre yesterday, and the other rear is on the way out as well. And instead of just buying new tyres I have found some new rims with tyres that I am hoping will fit because I need to get something on my car one way or another by end of tomorrow. Can someone please definitively advise if the following sizes will fit on a 91 TT 2+0. 5x114.3 18x9.5 +40mm Offset Tyres: 225/40/18 235/40/18 Some threads I have seen, seem to say that these are fine. And some make me second guess. Or I am just completely wrong If anyone could just say yes or no i would really really really appreciate it.
Legend thanks mate. Do you think the guards would need rolling or anything like that? Or just stock standard fitment.
they'll fit in just fine within the guards. if anything the tyres are a bit too skinny for those wheels.
I think I've confirmed the following is fine and doesn't look half bad fitment wise either. Wheels 18x 9.5, 5x114.3, +20 Tyres 225/40/18 I can go grab these this afternoon from a shop, get them home and get them fitted tonight. thus meaning I have my daily back haha.
18x9.5" +20 will poke in the rear a fair bit compared to the +40 you were talking about in your first post which would have gone on with literally nothing needed. Guard roll, lowered, camber & a bit of stretch will be needed now. 225 is to narrow a tyre too for a 9.5" wheel, although will look 'hektic' if that's your thing... If you insist on going this size then test fit before handing over your cash
THIS. +20 is not the same as +40. Get +40 if you want trouble free fitment. +20 will need more work to fit.
Cheers bud, nah I'm not feeling very "hektic" in the wallet haha I'm just settling for new tyres and leaving the dream of new rims for another day. Although I feel like I have learnt quite a bit today for when i eventually do.
