Just wondering before i attempt to install my HID kit - is there is an actual guide somewhere on here in regards to installing them ? As i would hate to screw up - i have checked the tech section and done a search but i haven't found anything that would be considered a guide just a few tips here and there.. any help would be appreciated. :)

Seriously my friend, if you need a Tech Article to plug in an HID globe, connect two H/Light wires to the wiring harness and mount the HID Ballast somewhere convenient, then maybe you should NOT attempt it(but rather go to an Auto Electrician).

    Hey,

Not hard to do at all, mount the ballasts somewhere that they can get some air movement over them (eg. intake area under nose panel), connect your power wires to the original plug and other cables to the ballast and install the globe into the head light assembly....generally they make the plugs and sockets in a way that you can't plug a lead into the wrong socket...they also recommend not to have the HIDs on for anymore than 15min while immobile as theres no flowing air to help cool the ballasts.

    Cheers!

    Craig

Edit: Did your HIDs come with at least a simple graphical instruction guide? If you can't figure it out from that then maybe yes get someone else to do it, but don't be afraid to give it a go ;)

WTF chilli. The guy is asking for some tips or a guide on how to do the job properly. Just remember if you don't have anything constructive to say don't say it. With the amount of hid conversions going on I can't possibly see what is wrong with a tech article on it. No one said you have to write it!

One thing to make sure you don't do is touch the globe's glass with your fingers as the oil from them will make them burn out or blow...if you do, just give them a clean with some methylated spirits or some alcohol based cleaner, maybe do this anyway as a precaution to any contaminant on the globe.

    Good luck ;)

    Cheers!

you should never have them on at all while the motor isnt running,it will destroy the life of the globe and ballast in no time

hmm, probably because i am currently sleep deprived - but i cant seem to find how to get the globe to sit nice and tight in the housing - its just overly loose at the moment, everything else seems to be fine, maybe ill have another crack at it tomorrow.

Selliver doesn't seem to have a problem with my post, so why do you?
Maybe you should follow your own advice.

i have a problem because the time you would have taken to write that post you very well could have given a tip, or offerd some advice.

For your information Einstein, I actually told him the basic steps required to fit HID's(and suggested that if it seemed too difficult, he would be better to use a Tradesman).

BTW, when were you appointed to monitor how much time it takes for me to write a post?
Find yourself a hobby that doesn't involve possible blindness.:whatever:
Your the bloody time-waster here, not me.
    Grow up!

i have no idea why so many threads on these forums get out of hand and turn into pathetic name calling and what not - we are all 300zx owners here for the same reasons - it makes me sorry i even posted for help :sorry:

Nothing wrong with you asking questions(although given the number of threads/posts covering HID fitment, it should have been easy to find all the info you needed).
I simply pointed out that it is a ridiculously easy/simple task(compared to most other jobs on a Z32)and if it seemed too difficult, it would be quicker to take it to an Auto Electrician.

I don't control the "nitpickers" on here(because there are just too many of them).:zlove::zlove:

I agree, I had to really do some rebending on my Right side clip to get the HID globe to seat firmly.
My first HID globe blew, possibily because It was not seated firmly? and it did "wobble" about in the enclosure. I noticed a faint shimmering in the R HID, but it blew before I remembered to seat it properly...

I'm a newbie, so the blown HID globe and loose fitting could be coincidence?... But I'll not risk it (not cheap)
Cheers, hope this has been of help
