Hi I have a 300zx TT she's a 93 model and has a coolant leak from the back of the engine dropping to the ground right below the gearbox. now i know it has had the heater bypass but i am unsure if it has the under plenum hose bypass but i'd hazzard a guess that it has. all the work up till now has been done by DriftKing performance Geebung. it only leaks when i come back from a decent drive but sitting at idle it doesn't leak only noticed it lately since the radiator has had the cap replaced it is an upgrade 50mm howe radiator. car doesn't overheat even after a 400km trip. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it definitely coolant or a/c evaporator water from LH rear of engine bay?

Sounds like you've got a pinprick hole in one of the turbo coolant lines that run up the back of the block. Hard to find, harder to replace. Get it warm, jack up the front then shut it off and get underneath with a lead light, see if you can see the hose, if not it may be up the top, same thing, get in there with a lead light and see if you can spot it.

It may barely leak until you shut the motor off and the pressure builds in the rear lines.

Agree with Andy. Possibly a small weep now but will certainly get worse.

Attend to ASAP via plenum pull and replace all hoses. If PP already done it is possible that some hoses were NOT replaced or hard pipes are corroded and weeping.

If your heater core is dead. It is usually cause the cooling system has deteriorated at some stage corroding it out. The effect this has is the rear coolant pipes to the heater core are scewed as well.

I have had heaps of them that have pin prick holes that are not covered by the rubber hose.

MAke sure you have spares before you plenum pull.
