Annoying headlight issue...

My drivers side headlight isn't working. I was hoping it would be something easy to fix like a blown bulb but it doesn't seem that simple. I have HID's, when I turn the lights on everything seems to work fine, about 10 seconds later the drivers side light will be extinguished... if i try again immediately after both will still turn on fine except this time the drivers side will only last about 5 seconds. High beams work perfectly fine (not HID if this makes a difference)

Could it be the drivers ballast thats stuffing up?

Extra info, the drivers side foglight bulb blew at about the sametime this started happening. Well - it seemed that way, i only noticed it when i investigated the drivers headlight. Just replaced said bulb and it works fine but the headlight is still being funky.

    Any ideas?

Best way to see if it's the ballast is to swap them over and see if the issue follows.

Mines started doing this, drivers side sometimes it just stops then works again. I'm not happy cos I mounted them up the back of the headlight while the front bar was off.

I suggest mounting them on the inner side of the headlights.
Most slimline ballasts fit snug as.

Easy access, nice and open, wont overheat

My right light would turn off after a few minutes.

I changed the ballast - made no difference

I changed the globe - all good now

So in your case, if not the globe, must be the ballast.

This exactly happened to me about a month ago after the huge sydney monsoon. My ballasts are strapped to the underside of my Y intake so they can't be seen from the engine bay. Messaged the seller, he got me to swap the operational ballast with the not working bulb and vice versa. Didn't work for either. Then I realized the busted ballast was leaking water... waterproof my arse.

so yeah. your ballast and/or bulb is ****ed. go order a new one.

One of mine died not long ago as well, I just pulled the stupid things out not worth the hassles. Got some 100W xennon globes to put in.

Seriously dude, please don't. I've got 55 watt in my lows and it's already obscenely bight - hell, I just now payed for a set of 35 watters. My friend has 75 watt low beams in his Supra (came with them) and whenever we're out driving at night I need him to either be in front of me or in the left lane because the reflection is so bright I can't see a ****ing thing. His's already dangerous. 100w and you'll ****ing kill somebody. Get them for your highs if you must.

55W in there now and they are pretty much useless thats why I got HID's, I doubt they will be much if at all brighter than what the HID's were.

If they are blinding people their lights cant be adjusted to well low beams should point pretty much at the ground 20 metres or so to the front.

I did read that the reflectors melt with them so maybe I wont anyway.

I think he means 100W Xenon filament globes, not 100Watt HID
100 Watt HID would probably alter the Earth's orbit
