Had the final round of the AMR CAMS WA Speed Event Series weekend just gone. Was a Track Sprint around Barbagallo Raceway. The morning consisted of x1 3 lap practice session on the short track, followed by x2 sets of 3 timed laps. The afternoon consisted of x1 3 lap practice session follwed by x2 sets of 3 laps on the long track. The quickest lap time on the short track was then added to the quick lap time on the long track to give you a total for the day. The day was made exceptionally difficult after finding that I had cracked my left rear brake rotor during the first practice session of the day. With the overall series result unconfirmed I had no choice but to do the timed laps and drive as hard as I could; just had to keep an eye on that rotor after every session! I made it through the day with the rotor now cracked from the edge of the rotor, right through the braking surface and almost at the hub - it didn't have much left in her before exploding I expect! I don't recommend anyone driving on cracked rotors! Other Events: Darling Scarp Ascent - Hillclimb - Boyd Rd, Keysbrook 1st Place Production Sports 4000+cc Class 2nd Place Outright The AMR Speed Series is a great club level series that anyone can enter. The range of cars this year was enormous with the likes of 911 GT3's, F3000, Formula Fords, Formula Vee's, WRX's, Evo's, GTR's, HSV's, Escorts, Westfields, PBR's, Saloon cars, Silvias, Lotus Elises and Historics to name a few. The zed faired very well with the following having to be changed due to failure/wear: x4 R comps, x8 oil and filter changes x1 coolant change x1 gearbox fluid change x1 clutch x2 clutch line between the master and slave cylinder x2 front brake rotors x1 rear brake rotor x3 front brake pads x1 rear brake pads All the above are pretty much consumables and are expected; anyone that says zeds are unreliable, slow, fat and just aren't doing things right. Awesome Franz, Congratulations ,Thats a top list of achievements! You certainly are one talented driver Franz . Also speaks volumes for the Zed as a track car,the poor thing must cringe when you open the garage door  ,but it just goes to show that with a good maintenance program you CAN play hard with them. So where do you go from here?? Whats on the agenda for next year huh???
Well done Franz!! Just proves that you don't have to win every event, just turn up and run consistantly good times.
Re: On Ya Franzy!!!!! sweet, what other cars were in the sports sedna 3200+? rolly? the owner of the escort place? umm.. racetune?
Nope, I beat Rolly. He came 3rd overall in the series. Jamie Lister driving a WRX Sti won the series.
Other cars in my class... TT GT40, Shelby Cobras, any Turbo Porsche or GT2, TT Rx7's ummm, what else... all I can think of off the top of my head!
