-AN Speedflow?

    So ive been going through what i will need for the fuel system, oil feed lines etc.
    And id love to go Speedflow, as far as i know they are all still made here in Aus, but the price :eek:

    Where is the best place to get Speedflow from?

    I already have a couple of random Speedflow 100 series fitting, and the quality looks fantastic, but i have nothing to compare them too.

    Who uses what, is there really that much difference in quality - Aeroflow, Proflow, Raceworks - which look to be Proflow going by their similarity in catalogues

    I use raceworks a lot. Am also a raceworks dealer. And Aeroflow but their products are generally more expensive but so unless they have something specific I need I’ll go with raceworks.

    It’s not the same brand as proflow but I wouldn’t be surprised if most of this stuff is coming from the same place.

    100 series FYI is chlorinated polyethylene hose. Teflon would be preferable.

    Just some personal experience, quite a few years back piecing together a fuel system on a friends car, we bulk ordered a lot of AN fittings from Summit Racing in the states. Unfortunately the thread stripped on a few without much effort at all.

    Disappointed in the quality, changed the whole lot over to Speedflow, used same tools, never had issues.

    I only use Speedflow fittings now and happily pay twice as much for them.

    Re Proflow quite a few guys on the rotary groups have tried their fuel rails and all came back stating it's total junk, doesn't seal, leaks etc and chucked straight in the bin.

    Aeroflow is probably slightly better but end of the day I think it's still China made stuff just with slightly better quality control. Would rather pay for fittings made in Australia and supports local jobs.

    Thanks for the input Rob.

    I was going to use the 100 series fittings I have on either engine oil or transmission lines.

    The plan was using aluminium hard line for the majority of the fuel system then fit out to 200 series where required.

    When I get a chance I’ll shoot you a message for parts to quote.

    I totally agree, and always try to buy Aus made where I can, but unfortunately sometimes it’s just not financially efficient, I don’t mind paying a bit more, but when it’s 50% or so, that’s huge over a full cars worth of fittings.
    But if I can find a dealer with competitive prices, I’m more than happy to get quotes to compare prices.

    Are you going to -An you radiator hoses? last time I measured it up Im sure it came out to -20an = 1.5" outlets, crazy prices but an easy way to plum non standard radiator setups.

    Na I wasn’t going to.
    I’ll fabricate Aluminium pipes and fill the gaps with silicone hose

    I bought a big heap from Summit Racing years ago. Most were Aeromotive or Earl's. No problems with the quality. I also had some speedflow from a local shop which was just lovely but the price is nuts.

    Yeah unfortunately the price is nuts.
    After a very rough calculation, it looks like I’d be adding another $600-700 for fittings if I go with Speedflow

    You should not expect any problems as long as you assemble as per manufacturers instructions and use the right product for the right application.

    It may sound like I’m pushing a barrel or whatever but raceworks products come with a two year warranty and their parent company is very good to deal with regarding a returns and warranties, and wven getting on the front foot where products (push lock type hose to be specific) have not been up to scratch in the past.

    Re threads stripping it is good practice to use some kind of Teflon based sealant when assembling hose ends to prevent the threads from galling. Note I’m talking about assembling the hose end, not connecting the hose end to another fitting.

    I've been buying aeroflow and its not cheap at all. Might give Rob a go next time. i'd love to buy aussie but unfortunately im already committed to supporting my aussie family and they come first.

    if you could see the beautiful stainless 5000psi + fitting, gauges, valves and braided lines i walk past in the scrap metal bins at work it would make you cry. Not to mention snap on ratchets, huge shifters, hole saws, chain blocks
    shackles, inch drive sockets.

    You can buy direct from Speedflow now plus they do custom anodizing for +10%. I used to buy speedflow parts from https://www.performancewholesale.com.au/
    I've used Earls, Speedflow, Aeromotive, Russell Performance ... all are good quality and never had issues with any of them. I always wrap cloth tape around the fittings or put a rag over them before putting a shifter on them to tighten them up to stop marking the surface. I've found the aluminium spanners completely useless in that department. I've also seen clowns use thread tape on the AN flare fittings when it shouldn't be used (only use thread tape on the NPT threads).

    Well guys i ended up going with the Raceworks fitting.
    The quality of them seems good, and they do go together very well.

    1 thing i will say though is that the 10AN internal measurement is about .8mm smaller than the Speedflow.
    Food for thought i guess, maybe that is where the extra $$$ is when buying Speedflow.

    Glad to hear it all worked out and interesting re speedflow ID being larger.
