AMS alloy radiator - possible fitment issues??

Just wondering if you would find this acceptable or not?......but more importantly will the radiator cause me headaches with fitment issues?

Finally received my AMS order today!.......but it was sent to my home address & not to my work address!.......so I didn't get to check the boxes before they were signed for!

I didn't find out until my partner called to tell me they had arrived at the house! She had no idea about the transit warranty! As soon as I saw the box I knew there was a chance the radiator could be damaged! :(

    Anyway here's the pics:

The box was wet & one corner was torn open!.......looks like the box may have been dropped on this corner?? :(

The top inlet has been flattened on one edge! I can try to knock it back into shape but now I'm concerned it might leak coolant?

but my main cause for concern is the fact that the radiator is warped!
It's hard to get a clear pic of it!......but looking down from above you can see the top edge is not parallel to the bottom edge:

I'm not sure if it was built this way??......or whether or not this could be the result if the box had been dropped?

I have no idea if this really is an issue or not?.......but it's not like the radiator is held firmly by the brackets etc?......it just really sits there sandwiched between the top & bottom supports! - so it's not like it will be forced flat from the fixing method!

Also I'm not sure what sort of damage to the cooling fins is thought to be 'acceptable' on a BRAND NEW radiator??......I know you only have to brush these things & they bend so easily!........but still:

So yeah!......what are your thoughts?

I can't really attempt to fit the radiator for some time yet!....... so my main concern now is whether or not there might be fitment issues due to it being warped the way it is?? :(.......& if so I need to try & get this resolved with Drift Spec/AMS asap! :(:(

Any help & advice would be VERY much appreciated!

You can probably fit it to your top brackets with a little bit of force :)
Knock the inlet back into shape as best as you can then slide the hose over the entire thing and clamp it down good! (bit of blue gasket could help too)
Man my eBay radiator looked better than that, way better looking welds.

That's the point though!.......should I really have to do this if its a brand new radiator??

Really?......& these are meant to be a 'quality' product? :(

Well......no, but as you said and from that photo of the box, it does seem that the package was not handled with much care...

Never used AMS products so can't comment on that...

Well I'm pretty sure this is the cause of the dented inlet pipe!........but the fact that it was sent to the wrong address!.......which then meant I wasn't able to check for any damages before delivery was accepted is just not good enough IMO!............but further to that I can't be sure if this had anything to do with the radiator being warped the way it is?

After the issues I've had with the TEIN Monoflex coilovers, the fact that this order took the best part of 9months to finally arrive!........ & now this! .........it's not exactly been the best buying experience I've ever had for my Z! :(

IMO? I would not be happy with that delivery of a BRAND NEW radiator/anything new. Is there any chance of you contacting the supplier and explaining your situation? Surely they will be understanding? I still don't see how you could receive a parcel without signing it first!?!

Could the warping be linked to the dented pipe? I thought alloy was malleable, so could a drop strong enough to bend a pipe cause a slight twist in the radiator?

That's just my two cents anyway.

Hope you can resolve this issue ASAP, it sucks to receive damaged goods!

Russ... Contact DriftSpec AND AMS. It WILL be rectified. Dave from DriftSpec and Vuk at AMS are both very good people and are willing to help.

Obviously I will get in touch with Drift Spec & AMS!.......but this added to my other ongoing issues with this order makes me a real PITA for them at the moment! :( - so I'm not sure how they will approach dealing with this issue as well?

That's part of the problem! - my partner did sign for it! :(

The order was supposed to be sent to my work address! - but instead was INCORRECTLY sent to my home address!......plus I wasn't even made aware that the order had been sent yet??....... so therefore I wasn't expecting anything?

What makes things even more complicated is the fact that we were actually expecting parts to be delivered from the UK for her car any day now! - so she just assumed that this is what these were & signed for them! - like I said we had NO prior warning that we should be expecting any other delivery??......so she had no reason to think anything different?........& so she signed for them!

She also had no idea to check for damage first?......& didn't call me to let me know they had arrived until after the courier had already left!

So it's just been one F.up after another!.......but like I said the root of all this was the fact that the delivery was sent to THE WRONG ADDRESS in the first place! :(

That's the thing I don't really know? & have now way to tell?:confused:

    Yeah Elie will do! ;)
Both Dave & Vuk have been great (well so far at least!) dealing with a few other issues I've had arising from the AMS Parity sale!.......but now to have to add this to all of the other stuff of mine they are dealing with!........they will be running out of patience with me! :(

I've just had nothing but bad luck with this bloody order!

Very messy indeed, sucks when stuff like this happens i hope all can be worked out with out turning ugly its hard to say where/who damaged the item, i do agree that yes you could more then likely make it fit and work but as you said you shouldn't have to "make it fit" good luck mate :)

I got an alloy radiator from the US for my F100 last year and it arrived slightly warped like that. But with no damage to the packaging to speak of.

I was understandably concerned that it would crack etc once I bolted it in which would straighten it out so I contacted the seller/manufacturer about it.

They said it was pretty normal due to the heat from welding etc, and to just go ahead with fitment, but should I have any issues they would sort it out.

So I fitted the thing, and had no problems at all for the 50,000 klms plus it was used before I parted the vehicle out due to rust.

So anyway, long story short, the warping and the other damage on your rad may not be related. But who knows really. Looks like it took a pretty good knock.

Good luck getting it sorted. I found Vuk pretty good to deal with and he bent over backwards organizing my complicated order so i'm sure he'll take care of you.
