Does anyone know if a 1990 TT (import) would use the older CFC gas or the new gas? I need to get the system regassed.Speaking of which, can anyone recommend a place in Sydney that's well priced? Thanks,James

Old gas, you will need to get a retrofit...

Prob cost you in the vicinity of $250.

    Hopefully not...

I know a couple of mechanics that will still refill the old gas as long as you pay cash and they charge about $150. I haven't had a car refilled with the old gas for a couple of years though so I will have to look around to make sure the guys I know that did it still have any of the old gas. Thanks for your help,James

Old gas is usually second hand....>>

from when they empty the gas from a car prior to converting to new gas. Usually work fine, but sometimes causes problems.

ER12 is the CFC friendly replacement..>>

for R12 gas, not quite as good at cooling but no retrofitting is required.Try a few different Air Con Co's as there are quite a few different gases available, some requiring retrofitting and some that don't.Cheers
AndrewPS: Retrofitting = New receicer dryer & oil replacement & fitment of 2 new valves.
