    Hi guys

Just coming up to selling one of my Z's and I would like to have the air con at 100% to give me piece of mind. I've had very contrasting quotes and reasons from workshops.

Can anyone give a ball park figure?? Or even better a trustworthy workshop in Perth that can do the job??

From what I've gathered its not a huge job, but the condenser and the gas have to be replaced, is there more to it than this?

    Cheers

HI mate, just did my AC system as part of a TT swap. I had to change the NA condenser over to TT, and took the compressor out while I was at it.

The issue you will face is that most shops want to do all the work themselves, which they charge an arm and a leg for, cause its a zed and hard to work on. plus they inflate parts costs.

I dont know what's wrong with your system, or why the condensor would need replacing unless its damaged. If it's just old and worn then it might just need a regas (from R12 to 134a). This requires some new eals and a new dryer unit, and a patrol dryer will fit perfectly, just keep the pressure sensor switch from your old dryer.

The general rule is that if you undo a junction, you must replace the seal there. These seals are cheap as chips. If you are wiling to do the work yourself, then your costs will be 1/degassing, 2/new seals, 3/dryer (~$50) and 4/ regassing (~$150). This assumes you have no other leaks and your AC pump works properly.

I would strongly advise you go to AutoCool Components, 238 Lord Street Perth (9328 1228), and ask for Darcy, tell him Gareth with the red 300zx sent you. Darcy is a no nonsense sort and will tell u what u do and dont need, and what you can do yourself.

    good luck!

    Gareth
