One of the bearings in the tailshaft needs replacement.

can anyone give me a ruff idea on how much that work is gonna set me back? inc parts and labour?
not attempting the job myself as u cant drop a freakin 5 cent peace in these engine bays they are so tight so want to get the job done properly,
does anyone know of a recommended place to get it done in east melb?
how long should i allow for work like this?
just trying to see if it is finacially viable for me
thanks for any help u can offer ppl,
    cheers

Lots, you're practically looking at an entire engine rebuild to replace the headgasket alone. Try and find a 300zx that hasn't been cooked, just my 2c.

    Gday,
    1.Head gasket OEM $75
    2.HICAS Eliminator $250
    3.Coolant Res $20? Wreckers
    4.Steel 1 Piece Drive Shaft $500

But After saying that if you choose to get a mechanic to do all the work for you, you'll find they'll charge double for parts and at least $2000 for r/r and the rest, and sure as eggs after they get the head of it will need work etc.. i recommend a bit of research, and learn to get intimate with your zed or leave it alone, and keep car hunting.
    Good Luck (you'll need it)

The only good advice i can give you is to find a good zed that does not need engine work. They are out there, be patient.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

As long as the list of faults is all that's wrong with the car, the body and interior are in reasonable condition for age, and the asking price is only $3-4K, then it may be worth considering. Even with a full engine rebuild at that purchase price, the outlay would be $10K for a reasonable Zed.
In the end, it's your decision whether or not to take the chance on it.

How much were you thinking of spending? How much do they want for the car? With a car like this, you just never know what it?s going to cost to repair.
If the body was dead straight, and the interior in perfect condition, it may be a worthwhile project, but you can quickly spend 10-12k on the engine alone.

will.i.am updtd garage! chek it out

if the car has all these probs you should prob look for anothrer that has been looked after, you'll have less hassles down the line.... just sounds like the prev owner had 1 thing after another go wrong with no DOSH to fix it.....
