That makes a really large engine stand that will take up a lot of room and be difficult to move around.

    $360 + $81 (delivery to Brisbane) = $441

But from SuperCheap at the moment:

    Engine Crane: $199http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Engine-Crane-Folding-1250kg.aspx?pid=219512#Description
    Engine Stand: $89.95http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Engine-Stand-450kg.aspx?pid=219510#Description
    Leveller: $49.99http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-Engine-Crane-Leveller-540KG.aspx?pid=273688#Description
    TOTAL: $338.94

Pickup is free and you have a local warranty.

Yeah briz is right. If you don't have heaps of space then that setup will be awkward.
Its better to be able to fold the crane up and push it into the corner out of the way so you can move around the engine when working on it. Then still be able to push out of the way as well.

Thanks for the advice guys. Will take a look at the Supercheap gear as it's not like I plan on pulling engines often! and being able to pack the gear away should help keep the missus happy!

I got the 2ton hoist from ebay for $260 delivered .

Ill be getting the engine stand tomorrow from supacheap . Thanks Briz :)

BTW will the leveller help get the engine and gearbox out on more of an angle ? I just used a chain last time and the barstard got stuck between the steering rack and the gearbox tunnel

Took alot of pulling and proding lols

I have only done it with the gearbox removed, and was not a problem with out a leveller.

I think with a couple of pairs of strong hands you could do it with out the leveller and gear box atatched, on your own the leveller would probably be handy.

I pulled the other engine out over the weekend ans wrapped chain under plenum and it pulled out heaps easier . Not sure if the auto is a diff shape or the angle of motor due to the chain being in diff position .

And grabbed myself one of those bargin engine stand and its a ripper :D

I've got that but without the leveller.

I've had no trouble pulling VG's with gearbox attached. Just sling with belts towards the front of the plenum and control gearbox height with a jack.

Had no trouble with FWD/AWD/RWD motors. Been good, especially for the price paid.

A big thanks to you John! Stopped past Supercheap yesterday to take your advice. In fact, hadn't realized they were having such a great special - grabbed some other bargains while there too. Got good gear & saved some loot at the same time - owe you a few beers!
