Started doing an oil change on Sunday, which turned into pulling the lower plenum to install a 2nd det sensor for the knock lite I recently acquired - planning to install between cylinders 3/4 in the valley. Does this hole need to be drilled and tapped? Or is there an existing hole there? If it does need drilling - anything I need to know before doing it in car? I'm guessing it should be pretty safe as long as I don't drill any deeper than the stock det sensor location?
pretty straight forward . drill and tap ..copy the original in depth etc with heads on shouldn't have any probs with metal shavings Did my previous engine before machining when I ran the GTR Power FC
Pulled the lower plenum off - to find a M12 x 1.25 tapped hole there? Not sure why as I would put money on it that the lower plenum hadn't been off this car before..... Checked my old motor - and had the expected blank casting there... Anyway - long story short, picked up a thread adaptor from M12 x 1.25 to M8 x 1.25 - now to start reassembly!
