Hi all - for those of you who don't know, my 300ZX was broken into outside my house 3 weeks ago.

    I KNEW they'd be back.

And they JUST were. This time they hit my partner's 180SX. Took off with his boost controller from the glove box.

They've screwed the driver's door lock and the ignition lock - the car is unstartable. Steering lock is also f**ked.

If you catch anyone trying to sell a boost controller - BEWARE - it doesn't even work.... So - more fool them LOL :p

The irony of the situation is that the alarm for his car arrived YESTERDAY - and it rained all day today so we couldn't install it. Go figure. Just lucky we were still up watching movies.

Yes - cops have been called. NO. No car was sent, no1 is coming to look at it. Same with the 300 3 weeks ago. And people wonde WHY so many inports go missing in Canberra. Coz it's now been proved to me TWICE IN 3 WEEKS. That ACT police couldn't give a rats ARSE about car theft.

Yes. I hope the cops check the forums. They'll begin to notice how much contempt we have for them. We even have the scissors they used to break into the 180SX - RIGHT HERE. Yes. We told them that. NO they didn't care......

Lock up your cars kids - the bastards are still on the prowl in Kaleen.

Wow, that sucks. Just realized yesterday that my car alarm has been switched OFF since i bought it... So turned it on. Considering the bad neighbourhood i work in, don't wanna take any chances.

Sounds like a great plan to me! :) DO IT!! :D

They JUST came back for another go. Drove past, reversed up, stopped. Realised that my partner was running out the door with my trolley pole and took off.

    Bastards.

I hope you get them and give their right royal deserves....
I know it may be inconvenient but MOVE!

Not being completely insensitive to your situation, but im sure the police care - but really with out a rego number or anything from you - there is practicly nothing that can be done at all except a report anyway, and there are much worse things going on that require their attention straight away, i was assaulted at work about 3 weeks ago by two male suspects and they went going to send anyone because they were all busy on things that were actually important at the time - but they did in the end because a patrol car became free, from the officers own mouth - is that they are so short staffed that they only respond to category 2/3 incidents, category 1's (what ever that classifies as, which im guessing yours and/or mine) will only get looked at much later in the the evening/day when new staff come on etc.. if at all -
but on a separate note i hope you next time get a rego number on these assholes or something - something tells me they might be stupid enough to try it again... hope it works out for ya. :zlove:

sucks to hear. That's not good at all.

And sadly, given thats to hits, both after the cars and/or parts, its probably someone "in the car club scene" (I'm not suggesting Aus300 here, but the wider community)

So its lock up your cars kids AND watch your backs. Trust no one.

Not been disrespectful, but this is exactly what gets my goat up. They state that they don't have the resources to deal with this, but yet they have enough police to do an EPA bust. Or, pull over a perfectly law abiding citizen in an import to hassle them about whether their blow off valve is atmospheric or have pod filters. I mean really get you priorities right.
The issue here is with the police that are on the beat, but their supervisors and their managers. The fact that they work on convictions as a KPI is rubbish, get to the point. Do you think the public wants to see a "hoons" car crushed over the low life that damages cars indescrimately.
I speak from a point of experience here, that I won't detail as it is an on going investigation. I say that even though it was over 15months the fact that it hasn't been solved to me suggests that it is an ongoing case.
And, saying that I take the same approach we are contacting the local police station, at regular intervals. And, when it was explained to me that it is unlikely they would catch the person I question them on that judgement and what basis they assumed that, and took the issue further up the line needless to say they are looking into it again.
I say let one crook get away and you are sending a message, same goes for holding the police to account. If they are going to address only the crimes or laws that they deem need addressing, or are easy to do, I see that as a failure of the law, ie. if they are not going to chase thieves, well I might as well hang up my engineer's hat and change to a more profitable method of earning a living (as it has no repercussions or tax!), just as long as if I do it in standard toyota camry at the speed limit.
Lyshious, two things for you to consider. Get a digital camera and be ready to catch them in the act, and a note pad to record the details (no matter how small). Also, contact the local police station and voice your concern at the response time of the police. Sure they will give you an excuse (we were busy etc), but if you ask that your complaint be lodge I am sure that it will work for the better for the police at station if their excuse if legitament (more patrols, more police, more resources for them, etc). As in business the most important thing to take note of is a customer complaint, they have taken time to notify you of things that are not right with your business (normally you have to hire very expesive consultants for that).
Nothing should be more unnerving to the authorities in the police than a law abiding citizen in their station making a complaint.

Unfortuantly yes ... the publics view on these matters is as misguided as the polices - due to the terribly biased media coverage etc... but this is all off topic now from the Original Post, i would recommend though you keep a note pad and pen now near your window/door as mentioned above - details of car makes/models/rego's/their peoples descriptions etc... anything that can help when/if it happens again. Best of luck in the future :)

    A bit off topic.

Firstly I want to include a word in my post it is here
Whilst it can very quickly progress off topic this sort of discussion, I again want to highlight that I am in a similar circumstance, or one that is at least relevant and pose that it is a method. As with all issues, you should always tackle them on multiple fronts. Get more details for the police if there is a next time. Get it noted that you consider their response time (or just the lack of the response), inadequate as a resident of the area.
Just as the media has been able to control how the police address certain demographics, so can the public. And in your case Lyshious, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. They (the low lifes) have had a few goes at you place now, it is obvious that the police's method of addressing it (stick your head in the sand) does not work. What does it say if your car goes missing next time? Are they going to show any interest? Were they not pre-warned?
It doesn't suprise me when some people take things in to their own hands these days.

I agree on all fronts - and I just found out that when a mate of mine's car got stolen a while back - nothing happened. They didn't even want to fingerprint it when it was found.......

Funny you guys should mention the notepad - Been wandering around with paper n pen in my pocket. JUST called the police AGAIN to report suspicious activity.

A chickie in a white Corolla - parked driectly in front of my house - with a map in her hand. Looking at my front yard. Not the map. And writing things down on a piece of paper while glancing out the window at my front yard every 5 seconds. At the time there were 4 cars parked out there.

THEN she rolled down her window and took a picture of my front yard before she took off when she saw me writing down her plate.

Details have now been passed on - they can't do anything about it until something ELSE happens - but she'll be their 1st port of call. Even the police lady said it sounded coincidental - she could understand the map, but she can also understand why we got suss when she took a picture and spent more time looking at my front yard and writing stuff down.....

 Sounds suss to you guys too? Or am I being paranoid....

EDIT: If you were trying to "inconspicuously" gather info.... WOuld you send a guy in a Falcon - or a chickie in a white 2007-2009 model Corolla???

    No that's just weird...

Unless you are renting that place, maybe a new prospective tennant or something like that.

Yep - looking into video cameras for out the front with live streaming to an external harddrive on my computer.

As for the tennant - if they were looking out the OTHER side of their car - you'd be on to something. :) The 3 places opposite me are all rental places. My place was bought by my parents in the 70's and has been the family house ever since. And the houses on either side of me both own their houses. No renting. But I like the way you think. At the moment I have a sleep deprived paranoid brain - so I appreciate the change of perspective! :)
