Had to remove the dash completely because the vinyl had peeled back at the front and back but in removing the vents ....they broke! Not quite like the tech article said. They were very brittle from all the sun I spose.Question 1; Are they readily available and does anyone know what they cost?Question 2; Whole I have the dash all pulled out is there anything else worth replacing while I am at it......say the water heater??regards John
spare parts place yeah the vents do get really brittle. i was careful and managed to only crack one of the vents, saved the other. just go to a spare parts shop and ask if they have a front cut of a 300zx, if they do most of the time they will have the vents. I got the left vent and only got charged $10 from Just Jap, south of sydney, not sure how prices go in QLD.as for other stuff to do while dash off.1. if you have lots of aftermarket assesories, like stereo, gauges, lighting neons and stuff you can clean up the wiring back there.2. you can check the heater core, if its not leaking you can have a look at its pipes joining the core iteslf, see if there are any very small leaks happening coz they will be an indication of worse things to come. since yours is an automatic it will be easier to check the heater core, all you need to do is remove the ac control unit (black box with lots of wires on it) and remove the black cover that covers the heater core. look up tech article on heater core removal.hope this helpscheers Michael=)
