Attempted an Auto Transmission diagnostic only to find that I am getting no "A/T CHECK LIGHT" to provide the diagnosis to check the health of the A/T system. Multiple attempts gave the no light result. Yep, tried search/advanced search without reward ... !!!! Guys and Gals ... need help on this one ........ !!!
When you first turn on the ignition, does the a/t check light come on for a few seconds? If it's pre series 2, your a/t check light is the power light. If the light doesn't come on for a few seconds when ignition is on, you may have a blown bulb
Thank you, mate ... had meant to mention that the "power" light had disappeared as well .. Any clues on how to replace the power light globe ,,,, hopefully not "dash out" .. !!! edit: 1991, N/A ATO .. JDM>
Not dash out Just need to remove the cluster surround. So cluster hood off, lower trim below steering column off, steering column plastics off, pods out then remove the cluster surround. From memory they are T5 wedge globes
Oh and of course the light panel is in the cluster surround. The bank of three on the right and the power light is the first from the left
To wrap this one up for future search purposes ..... Turned out not to be a blown bulb but an intermittent fault in the Auto Transmission Control Unit/Module ..... replaced the Module and the Power light is now back in action. Just another trick to check in the Zed maintenance world.
