I had a Hitech ECU installed with boost jets running at 15psi. This was awesome when I got them installed. I have had them for about 6 months and had the car in at a mechanic to have the water pump, pulleys andd belts at the front replaced. Since getting it back it seems like the car has not got as much power. It is still producing the same amount of boost but where before it would really take off around 3500-4000 up to 5500 when the boost bled off, now it seems to just rev and not produce the power. Could this be for some reason or am I just used to it now?

    did you dyno it?

chances are the fun has wore off...

    Was timing belt replaced?

    Or CAS adjusted? Check timing!

    Yes the belt was replaced...

I checked the timing, 17 degrees. I thought maybe the clutch might be slipping. Does this make a noise when it happens??

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

You could have developed a boost leak. (n/m)

Sounds like your timing belt is out by one >

tooth. Has the timing been checked? If it's at 15 degrees and the CAS is all the way anti clockwise then your timing belt is out by one tooth at the crank.

How far anti-clockwise should the CAS be

with the timing at 17 deg. It is a fair way around.

    For 17 degree's......

it should only be slightly off centre.

So if it's out a tooth then the timing would

be showing 17 deg and it really wouldn't be?

It would mean that the camshafts are ...>>

out of correct timing in relation to the crankshaft.

Not usually, but if it slips....

...long enough you will be able to smell it

    I had a similar problem

Boost was the same with absolutly no power, turns out the pin in the CAS connecting to the cams had snapped, cost $1200 to fix, hows your idle?

disconnect the electrical plug going to the

cas and check if all three pins are there, HIGHLY unlikely that its damaged. If it is damaged just buy a second hand cas wont cost you much.

Put a timing light on it ....>>

if the timing is erratic then this is your problem. If the timing is constant on 17 degrees, then this isn't your problem. There are a few likely possibilities:1. You're just used to the power2. You're in safety boost (aftermarket boost controller would keep your boost high but the conservative mapping would keep the power down). Try doing an ECU diagnostic.3. Your timing belt is one tooth out.

OK but what I really want to know is

if the timing belt is one tooth out, would the timing light show 17 deg if it really wasn't??

  18. IB

    IB ?????

The crankshaft timing would be correct ....>

but the camshaft timing would be incorrect. The CAS is attached to a camshaft. If the timing belt is out by one tooth, to get the crankshaft to 17 degrees you need to adjust the CAS fully anti clockwise.

I must be retarded. If the timing light

check shows the timimg to be 17 deg, does that mean that it must be 17 deg. Even if the timing belt is out by one tooth? Would I have to get the belt reset to have correct timing between the cam and crankshaft?

    IB ?????

    Correct ...>>

if your timing belt is out by a tooth, the ignition timing can be adjusted to 17 degrees BTDC but all the adjustment will be used. The only was to get the cams back in timing with the crankshaft is to re fit the timing belt.
