The A-Pillars are getting some work done too. I don't want to use those plastic/metal trim bits that run down either side of the windscreen and back over the sides of the roof. I'll make some nice alloy trim bits instead so I've had the a-pillars squished down so the height above the windscreen is constant all the way down to the bonnet.

Original A-Pillars are about 15mm proud of the windscreen so pie cut down the side has been taken out to squish the height down.

After squishing it down it's now only 5mm proud of the windscreen.

    Hey Chewy,

Been really interesting following your progress but I believe the purpose of the Z Re-builds forum is to have a single thread documenting everything in relation to your 300ZX "rebuild" rather than separate threads for different sections of the build.

Think of it as one thread per car build ;) ...otherwise it might be more appropriate to post various threads like this in the Z-Related forum. I'm sure the mods would be happy though to merge all your threads if into a single build theard if you asked them.

Either way, keep up the good work! :zlove:

    Cheers,

    Craig

Is this instead of the weather strips or am I looking at it wrong? Will you still be able to replace the windscreen if need be?

yes - to remove the weatherstrips.

The weatherstrips makes it look like it's stuck in the 80's. The windscreen will still be able to be replaced at any time. The trim bits I plan to make will be something like one of the following profiles:

And with a bit of finesse the trim will slip over the glass edge and then butt up against the a-pillar.
