Hopefully they don't write it off. Whether it can be repaired or not, if they deem that it's to expensive to fix compared to the value of the car, they won't do it.

Either way, it's a sweet car. Hopefully it won't come down to that..

    Egg ....

    Remember....

...if you're going through the insurance of the car that hit you, that you don't just have to accept what they say.

If it was your fault and you claimed on your own insurance you don't have much choice if they want to write-off. But not being at fault and claiming on the other parties insurance gives you so many more rights.

Especially considering your car is obviously way better then the average Z.

That certainly used to be the case, however, if both cars are insured by the same company(or if the different company's have a 'knock for knock agreement') then I believe you are screwed these days.
Angrybear was an insurance expert, maybe he can advise if this is still correct?

    THE VERDICT: Written off :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

got a call late last night from assessors, quote "its deffinately beyond financially viable repair"

will be speaking with insurance today, and will likely be getting the wreck back, so will be parting out soon...

What they consider financially non-viable write off, you may not.
Take the payout, buy back the car, consider all your options.

As Greg has stated, I would be seriously looking at shopping around for someone who will repair it(that is obviously dependent upon how much they pay you in settlement, and whether you have to buy the wreck from them). It's been done many times before, hope it can be again.:(:zlove:

ask them if they will offer you a 'cash settlement' rather than write it off! Shannons have just done this for me due to the hail damage on my car! They gave me a considerable lump sum payment AND I got to keep the car!

Only thing is they will now only insure it 3rd party until I get it fixed & it's re-assessed! By doing it this way they also didn't list it on the official 'written off' list with the local road authority! - as it wasn't structurally damaged! - not sure if they will agree to that with yours??.......but worth a try!

otherwise if they do list it as a 'write off' & you then buy it back - that opens up a whole new can of headaches with re-registering etc etc!

but on a side note if you do part it out & Chrispy forgets about the Kaminari side skirts & door fillers! :p:p - then I'll definitely take em off your hands! ;)

buy a dead shell for a couple K.

paint it all up nice, swap what parts you can,

    you might break even?

maybe look at 'Mr TT' as a rolling shell option if Anton does end up parting it out! IMO the orange paintjob is quite unique! - seems to be in good condition still also! only down side would be shipping it from WA to Qld!

That may not be possible now

I believe, from what I have been told, that any car Written Off, can ONLY be used for spares.
Chassis and Engine Numbers are recorded to ensure that these cars are not reborn and pose a danger on the roads.

I would be checking first off with reliable repairers and Insurance Companies if this is the case.
And if so, perhaps Mitch could purchase from his payout, a secondhand registered Zed and just swap over all the parts to restore this to what he once had in the written off Zed.
That way he would be complying with the current legalities required and using his present write off as spares.
    Just my 2 bob's worth.
All the best of luck with it anyway Mitch.

    Cheers

If it's written off well you can't repair, if it is classed as a repairable write-off then you might be ok.

Easiest way out is get a rolling chassis and go from there.

If you have an agreement with them that if you do the deal to keep it. YOU MUST KEEP IT OFF THE WRITTEN OFF VEHICLES REGISTER AT ANY COST.

The complications of getting a vehicle VIV to reregister it is a major headache and expensive. Heed what Keza said. If they insist on putting it on the register you will be screwed.

IMO that is repairable with a bit of effort and a half cut chassis only. (should cost less than $500)

depends how much you love it :)
