Yes they do, I have them in mine. Don't go for something to big though. I used a Sony 200W 3 Way. You will need to get a small sheet of 6mm MDF and cut out a shape the same as the OEM speaker bracket (use the old one as a template). Cut out the shape of the new speaker centered to the original 6" speaker. You will also need to cut out another piece of MDF the same shape as the 6X9 to be used as a spacer so it will clear the window when it is down. Don't fit the new speaker covers! When finished the original (unmodified) door trim goes right over the top, you would never know what is underneath. No cutting of the door is necessary.
JB HI-FI The dudes at jb hi-fi recken it cannot be done. Little do they know. Thanks for your good advice..cheers:thumbsup:
I have done similar install Using 6 in round speakers. Using MDF, the same screws as the previous housing even. Its not hard if you have a jig saw. I saw lots of room for 6x9 inch, I wanted all 4 speakers the same but if I did it again I would also go 6x9's. Good luck
yeah i have sony 6x9s as well and they fit. i had 6mm bracket and 3mm spacer. that didn't fit so i made another 3mm spacer to fit over and in she went  the speaker wasn't positioned properly so i had to shave about 1-2mm off some parts of the trim. that's okay cos nobody looks behind the trim anyway
who listens to the knobs at jb hi.... to start off with JB HI is not the best store to buy audio gear from. They dont know what they are talking about at all. Some might but some just no clue. plus they never listen to what you say and think they are right the first time. All the gear i got sitting here is SPL gear. The only thing i need to buy now is a set of 6 inch splits. I wont be running rears as the fronts will be enough and only running one 12 inch sub not the 2 of them. Remember its a cabin so really you only hear the front speakers then the rear ones. plus the sound travels around the whole car. But at the end of the day it really depends on what type of setup you are after. Nath
