Hi everyone, I only brought my zed afew weeks ago and am trying to customise it for myself, i have started doing the interior but am wondering what external cosmetic upgrade people have found work well that i could do to the car nd also any engine mods i can do. The vehicle is the jap import '89 300zx N/A 2+2. Some mods i'd like to do are the luminating rear panel(300zx on rear) and body kits but i cant find the rear center piece that does that(i think it may have been a custom job that i saw a pic of) and im not a big fan of the urethane kits but it seems like the way ill have to go because i cant find any fibreglass kits to match the front bar. i will post a picture of the car as it is now and hopefully some of you can give me a well needed hand in customising the car... send drz400y a pm as he did an illumination panel on my car that lights up the 300zx on the rear of my NA He should be able to give you some more details as to where he got the kit from and how he did it
He got it off me I got the EL strip from a GB here a year or two ago. Search for Light Up Panel and you should find some stuff.

Agreed its already modded nicely, and looks clean. Will probably have a pod and it looks like a single exhaust? I'd go back to 2 for the sake of looks.
I hope it doesnt have a single exhaust.. well spotted Airstyle LOL as for the rear illumination light cameron you cant just "buy" them.. most are made to a custom job unless you pick one up second hand. Road illigality issues come up with them though so you have to be careful. As for not liking the urathane body kits what is not to like. They actualy can take some punishment unlike fibreglass. Unless you changed the car the stillen gen11 nose panel should do the job along iwth the UAS/GREDDY front bar. If you really wanted the rest of the car done. Id go a Stillen side skirt. Or go a bomex side and rear. they would look rather nice i think. You will find plenty of things on here to do/ help you with though.
I think the car looks pretty nice as is. The illuminated rear panel mod requires a strip of EL tape and an inverter. I did a group buy on these ages ago but the supplier I used has since stopped selling the EL tape. Adelaide Zed Cars http://www.adelaidezcars.com.au/main.php were offering a kit at one stage.
hey thanx everyone for your replys.. and yes it is Prockys old zed.. and it is dual exhausts already disasterpiece just to confirm what procky had already said... ill look up the EL bar from what yous have told me and ill post pics if i get it done... Also ill look into the body kits and try and get some input on which ones would look good.. also because it is an 89 and looking at another thread the newer ones have rear lumination on the side controls for the driver lights and the air con and was wondering if i got a pair of those would they just clip in and work or would there be new wiring because of the lumination of them... and one more question... what would be an easy way of fixing the lock on the driver side door and i have had to loosen the bolts on it so the unlocking linkage and move the full way around to unlock the door otherwise the door stays locked and is incredibly hard to open...im open to any ideas or even any far out modding idea for the zed... im after a silver/blue colour theme with a full sports look... i will post pictures of any parts of the car which anyone may want to see to gain ideas to tell me what to do or even for ideas for their own zed. thanx all....cameron(thanx proc for telling everyone my name....lol)
Bzzzt, wrong answer. The one you gave me hasn't been fitted yet. The one in the car is from Elec2go.com. There is a pretty good right up in the tech section on how to do it.
Yup or if you need somethign a else Uniqueautosports is there. Caz is great. . but yeah look into 2000K lights they go down very nicely.
