    Hi,

I have a question to ask you guys. My dad bought a Nissan 300zx about 4 months ago, it was a brand new import. We bought it from a gut that gave it a full injector and sensor service. I am not entirely sure what has been done to the engine in performance wise, but we were told it was fairly stock. It runs 1.2bar perfectly fine. Now for stock engine isn't 1.2bar a bit too much? I have a stock r33 skyline and the 300zx is almost twice as fast as the r33. I just want to know if i should get it checked out, because I am not sure if that boost is too much for it? Anyone have some advice for me?

    Juan

people say different things but i think about 12-14psi is a safe boost to go up to on a stock engine.....imho

1.2 bar is 17.4psi...as long as you have upgraded coolers, and a tuned ecu and supporting mods then thats fine if its not pinging etc...

if you have stock coolers, and stock ecu, then this is not good....stock coolers are pretty much effecient up to 14psi...and on a stock ecu you can run 12psi ok...

you may want to check it on conzult just to see if everything is running fine, and also not pinging...

maybe someone in your area could help you out with chucking it on conzult/datascan depending on wherre you live ;)

Come on the August 5th cruise, we'll have a quick look over the car :D
or tomorrow night at the test and tune at willowbank :)

If the turbos are STD, then you will be out of your efficiency range, but if you have supporting mods aka bigger intercoolers, and tune, you'll be OK. The engine can certainly handle that boost level. The tune is the important thing to keep your timing and AFRs at a safe level.
