Hate to tell ya, Terry, but the garage/shop opposite has closed... I'd reckon your sons (God bless 'em for last time!) will have learnt their lesson for this time; if we forget butter the butter snobs will just have to 'eat cake'!!

Quite a number there now. Lovely! Now, we need to get this a bit more organised to start with. I have already spoken to East Coast Z and he's happy to assist in the plenum pull. Basically, what we're planning here is to be able to demonstrate within the group what it is and what things are involved in such a process. We will be working on my engine. At the same time, my lower plenum will be replaced as well as two of the screws have snapped off (the ones on the passneger side that connect the balance tube to the plenum). So that will be a part of the agenda.

Has anyone of you's been planning to have something done on your car as well or will just be happy to be spectators?

It's a great time to just be there and connect with the group again in flesh without the need to touch the mouse and the keyboard. Rekindle the old flames, so they say (sounds "cheesy"?!)...

And also, I think mikemd offered his grill for some bbq so feel free to bring some food and drinks (flammables will do!). I'd bring some along, too...

Yeah not sure if the shop that is doing my rebuild is doing the lower hose bypass etc or whatever it is called. If not someone that knows what they are doing can demonstrate on my car if they wanna show the mob (Since I have nfi what I would be doing)

    What exactly

    Is being done?
Just a plenum water hose removal, ok.
EGR removal = lot more work.
lower plenum removal, means dropping your timing belt, and = quite a lot more work.
and Andy i never volenteered anything but advice and to fit another set of rear rotors on mine
have a look in the tech section under plenum to see what gaskets and hoses you need.
i will bring a drill and some easy outs to get the broken studs out.

    The point i'm making

Is, if you take on to much it will not get done, and i'm sure you don't want to leave it unfinished in the dark behind a factory complex overnight.

I think my main aim is to get the plenum out and replaced. But I'm sure all the bits and pieces to be done will also be done along the way like water hose bypass and of course changing the gaskets and o-rings.

How long does it take on the average? Say good 2-3 hours?

    Which plenum,

    Upper or lower?
2-3 hours, you will be about halfway there.:D

Wow, didn't realise that. It's the upper plenum. Broken balance pipe screws got stuck on it...

    UPDATE:

Would like to ask everyone who expressed attendance to kindly update their status as to either (1) would like to have a work done on their zed or (2) just happy to watch. And if you're with the first one, will you be able to provide your own tools to avoid "lost gadgets" sort of stuff at the end of the day?

    Here is the list:

    1. pennyarvs ------- plenum pull (change upper plenum included)
    2. mikemd ----------
    3. Ziggy300 -------- just happy to watch
    4. AusNAZ32 -------
    5. SRB-2NV -------- install old SAFC
    6. Airstyle ---------
    7. Wizard ---------- fit rear rotors
    8. yellow300zx -----
    9. fairladyZTT ------
    10. slick97 ---------
    11. AndyMac -------
    12. zedboy ---------
    13. East Coast Z --- do plenum pull

    Which type is it?

Someone may be able to help you with it on the day.
It would make things easier if you have the user installation manual & any wiring, connectors, hoses etc that may be required.

Just to clarify Arvin, YOU will be doing the plenum pull!
Tip: Start collecting a few take away food containers for your nuts & bolts etc, you won't be searching for them when you are putting it back together.
