A Porsche

Another Porsche...

It didnt take long for one of the V8 Utes to come unstuck!

He wasnt having the best of luck, once he got going he did some brake testing to get the gravel out, and on his second attempt his bonnet popped up!

BIG lockup!!!

Army helicopter

A pair of army helicopters..

Second last corner of the speed challenge....F1 has got it in the bag already...

After the speed challenge the drivers were kind enough to give the crowd a wave!

A nice sunny day in Melbourne...beautiful view across to the city skyline...

My first dream car, made the year I was born! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Out the back with the Porsche pits

Some expensive body damage!

My pets wish they were important enough for their own Porsche

A quick view inside the cockpit...

A pair of well worn slicks

One of the stunt cars doing fishtales all the way down from turn 2-3

More Porsche action...

Yet more Porsche action..

Settling position at the start of the next race..

...whoops someone made a boo boo, pace car slows down the pack!

Nice view of the lake :)

Just a small amount of rubber was left around this turn! ;)

Rear view of a F3 racer..

red32 You talkin' to me?

Saturday's are FUN in Melbourne!

My apologies to those with dial-up

Became very intimate with these guys... you can just make out the table we were sitting at above the McLaren name... directly above Alonso's car!

And I was definately there...

And so were the Roulettes...

The Ferrari dining room... that's Jane in the cream cardi at our table
[IMG]
Plenty of large LCD TV's scattered around the room, plus we could also watch the huge one on top of the main Grandstand

Ferrari boys practicing for the Pit Lane challenge
[IMG]

One of the Toyota's heads for the track...

Hamilton's Mclaren is pushed back in...

The Honda's were pretty...

A famous face interviews a soon-to-be famous face...
at first I thought Sir Jackie was interviewing Valentino Rossi, but someone told me it was one L Hamilton
[IMG]
When Sir Jackie left, so did most of the camera crews and photographers. Poor Lewis!

Renault returns.

Ron and the boys hard at work
[IMG]

Alonso goes out to play...

One of the classics didn't quite make the whole distance
[IMG]

Dinner speech by Stefano Domenicalli was interesting... he's taken over Jean Todts role as head of the Ferrari F1 Team. In case I haven't mentioned it, (I know I haven't) we were at the track as corporate guests of the Ferrari Team
[IMG]

Must learn to use the shutter-speed control on my camera, either that or learn how to pan a moving race car... notice the proliferation of yellow ear fungus, which seems to clear up when you leave the track!

Last event of the day (for us) was a full tour of the Ferrari pits... "Please, do not use your cameras whilst in the pit area" ... so I got as close as possible from the outside.

The day has given me a whole new perspective on F1, like, "Shit - they're loud", and "Damn, they're quick!"
Looking forward to seeing the race on telly on Sunday, at least the telly has a volume control.
And to cap the day, I got to say "G'Day" to my pal Flavio (I think he has something to do with Renault). I'm not sure that he was aware I existed, but, nevermind, I still said "G'Day"

DAMN! That should have read "Fridays...."!
Saturday I was at Roy's daughter's wedding... now there was a grand prize!

As to how I was there...
In the Corporate boxes above the Pits as a guest of Ferrari... ticket provided by one of our equipment suppliers!
See this thread Clickety
Gotta love it!

Damn! That's the way to go to the Grand Prix, Doug!

10. RedZedMikey

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

Damn!!! More pix though!

Dougie, your free ticket trumps my free ticket - never been pitside at the GP. Damn! I was at turn 1 in the chicane skybox roof section on Saturday, Jack and I were plebs on the ground on Sunday. Pics from up high were taken on the Sat, all others on Sunday.

Cheers, should catch up with you this weekend. You got in the Ferrari pits? Damn!

The views from the Chicane Skybox - looking forward first, and then behind the stand.

Some shots of the F1's - from the top, Raikkonen's Ferrari, Alonso's McLaren, Fisichella's Renault and Webber's Red Bull.

The F18 made a few passes over the weekend as usual. Here's a wheels down handbrake on pass overhead.

Gotta love carbon fibre!

Hmmmm. bottle of Mumm wit P1 on it! I want to earn one of these some day!

For sale - cheap 2 post garage hoist - car must weigh about 400kg!

The Porsche experience - can I get me some of that???

Elly-the-Dog reckoned her Porsche experience was barracking for anything with VIP dog food stickers on!

The utes were in action as usual. Looks like number 5 really really likes number 13!

Rubbin's racin', or so they say. Looks like they tried rubbing number 1 right out of the race! Maybe he asked for it - could be risky using the nickname "Mayhem" ....

Extraction from corner 1 while my favourite Ferrari toodles around in the background. Red, twin turbo, 2 seater, and don't they look like Modena wheels hahahahahaha! Could be my car by description!

Can't forget the girls! Wear silly hats, get photo taken, way to go!!!

Shameless sponsorship pic - anyone want some ING financial advice???

We (I) weren't just in the pits, we (I) were over the pits. Every time they started the engine on Alonso's car, the cutlery rattled, we got standing waves on any drinks at the table, and more deaf! I have a sound-bite of Alonso's car, but I can't figure out how to upload it... will bring it on Sunday!
Did 2 (TWO - two, count'em) pit walks as well as the tour through the Ferrari pits.
In the Ferrari pits ("Please do not use your cameras whilst in the Pit area!"), we got to see where they strip/rebuild the engines/gearboxes/brakes/etc.... so surgically clean. Had a quick chat with Kimi! Mr Massa was not quite so friendly! I lost count of the number of laptops/computers.

Such a fabulous day(in the true sense of "fabulous"), I'm still quite mystified/confused/disbelieving/stunned!
I love our equipment suppliers!

And just to give you ALL the shits, I have also been fortunate enough to get a trade-day ticket to the Air Show for Tuesday (today), Wednesday, or Thursday! Only problem is... I have to work Wednesday midnight. Jeez, life's tough! (Never won Tattslotto, though)

WYKKED 2 Much Trouble

I only got to take a couple of pictures over the space of the weekend. Officials are not supposed to take them at all, but occasionally rules have to be over looked.

This is a classic shot of old and new supercars in the one place and time. I'd happily own either one......notice they are red!!!

Like Dougy pointed out, taking pictures in the pits is not on, and I spent a heap of time there, but I was on one of the intervention teams for the start (we get to push anything that fails to start) and the following picture was taken just before the cars left on the formation lap.Pole position looks a little different from this level, and hanging with the Minogue sisters on the start grid before the race is definately an experience.

Sorry for the quality, the phone just isn't as good as my normal camera.
