    I thought it might....

have been a great example of a 2000 version with the lights and front bar and side skirts. I know it's US version.
Just realised, they never sold the 2000 in US. Oops...

You certainly have a rare Z SIM300. It will be worth a bit in the future for sure.

Thanks for identifying the bonnet. I thought some people here might be interested in that design.

    Yes off topic, sorry.

No need to apologise, was just wondering why you posted it. It's a nice Z, but sadly the owner has tarnished that by being a huge douche. He broke into a local workshop that specialises in Z32 and stole a lot of parts/items.

The Xenon headlight, 2k front bumper combo isn't that rare. Lots of people have updated the front end of their Z to resemble the '99 spec Z32.

Its not just the 2000 model Z32s that are getting noticeably rarer either.

I can remember when I bought my Z32 4 years ago; looking on carsales.com there would typically be 5 or 6 pages of Z32s just for sale in NSW alone. Looking on carsales today (23/01/16) there is only 1 page of Z32s for sale in NSW i.e. just 8 cars of which only 2 are a TT. Similarly in Qld there?s only 9 Z32s for sales.

There?s about 45 Z32s advertised Australia wide at carsales but the thing is you used to get at least that many just in NSW alone 4 years ago.

So number are really coming down (assuming the number for sale at any time is proportional to the number that exist).

That's because Jamie has parted most of them out.

How many on Gumtree? Maybe the free advert is more of a pull than using carsales these days?

I think you might be right. 131 Australia wide on gum tree. Heard hasn't been thinned quite as much as I thought.

Yes there is more advertised on gumtree, but a lot of those ads are older than Moses himself and shouldn't be there. But that is what gumtree does, it laves ads on there making people think it's a better site etc etc.

But you can't import them. Need to bring it back after living there and owning it for a year.

    hmm

That's where I bought my zed from... Hope you speak Japanese. Although they did help by transporting it to the port, with customs clearance etc. My wife (Japanese) requested it they were happy for a small fee (100-150 bucks)

Looking at their website they have 3 cars for sale, 1996,1999 and 2000.

But as Chrispy says you cant have a 1998-2000 zed unless you go live there. My cousin lives there and has offered to facilitate for me (if i can have anything a zed isnt the top of the list, can get porsche caymans for same price as 2000 spec zeds) another option if you know a trust worthy person is buy one send it to NZ then have a person there rego it, insure it and garage it for a year then import from there, the documentary evidence from NZ to Australia is very light compared to Japan to Australia.

FYI, a Japan contact of mine in the industry sent me some stats re the exporting of second hand vehicles from Japan (complete with his bad spelling) first column is number of cars, second is value of cars, to the value add to the end 000 and divide by approx 80 to get AUD value, I can only guess its for a recent year not sure of start/end date.

I'll bet a large percentage of those 73000 going to NZ then end up in AU via dodgy car yards lol.

2+2's now get 6U900 followed by the car's original VIN (may be same prefix for 2 seaters?).
The VIN you've got there looks like it's probably from the good old days of the Low Volume Import Scheme where whoever had approval to do compliance work on imports basically made up their own new VIN for each car (and these usually had nothing to do with the car's original VIN).
The LVIS got shut down thanks to too many young guys wrapping their imported cars around light poles and when the crash investigation guys kept noticing a lot of these cars were in fact cut n shut jobs (a Z in Rocki for example ripped into three sections after a fairly basic crash leaving the driver's seat standing upright, all on its own in the middle of the main road virtually undamaged!), all compliance plate holder's approvals were cancelled over night and the whole system got overhauled.
Interestingly, after a few years of the government making f-all money out of imports because a flood of imports suddenly reduced to a trickle under the new, hard system - they swung open the doors with the 15yr thing not requiring any compliance work (because of course, making money is actually so much more important than safety at the end of the day ;))

Exactly!!! Lol. Seriously I'm having this debate on 300zxclub.com right now about the rarity of an unbastardized Z32 and its rarity! If you have a stock or at least mildly enhanced Z you are in the running for a big upside down the line!

We need all types mild to wild but make sure they're running right first!
