Ok so I currently have 19" HP Speedy Envy rims....I like them, but I move on pretty quickly and am considering my options. I don't feel any great desire to replace them with another set of 19's...I do feel that the wheel arch can take more and lowering on 20's would give great ground clearance etc (technical aspect aside though). I have done a few searches and have found only a handful of zeds with 20" rims...most arent lowered and almost all havent tried to achieve a good stance etc. Exhibit A I did find this example which I was impressed with - Exhibit B. then I returned to being soft after seeing Exhibit C. But with a bit of lowering etc this could turn out OKish. So I am looking for something that sits nice and is a bit different. I am not concerned about the 20's effecting the performance so please no advice in that regard. Ride comfort yes, but I dont drive this car much at all, and when I do its on a weekend for a it of fun. I still like tinkering with it and looking at it....hence why I need to be excited when I see it in my garage. So, if you have any nice examples of a zed on 20's please post them here. I do like these rims: All comments welcome...brutal or supportive this is my zed as it sits today:
The over all rolling diameter of a correct sized 20" tyre is about... 2mm taller than a correct sized 19"... A.K.A, no change in ground clearance. Plus, ride comfort sucks. And no nice options. And expensive as hell, unless you get cheap chinese knock off wheels... Those 19's look awesome on your Z
20s on a zed starts to cross the boundary of ghetto spec looks. 19s would be the absolute max I would go on a z32.
Are they 20's on the black zed, 2nd photograph? Seems to be sitting better than the second zed, which I agree isnt a nice look and full ghetto spec. the second zed I like but if 20's compromise the ride too much then this idea might well be short lived.
Super low-profile tyres(which you obviously need when running large diameter rims)have very little, if any, flexibility in the sidewalls. This inevitably leads to a very harsh ride. Looks great on a Show Car, but is a literal 'Pain in the Ass' on street cars. Stick with what you already have IMHO, they look good!:zlove:
nothing worse than having rims so big that they make your brakes look proportionate in size to the discs on my push bike.....
If I had said "Procky is a damned good looking guy" would you have come back and proffered "Not in my Bathroom Mirror"?:br:
Procky your 20's were for show etc. but you could get some aggressive looking 20's. anyone see that vid of the yellow zed with the 20" white rims. They look like a good fit.
Form or function ???? You have to decide if you want to drive your zed or look at it Personally, I can't see my wheels/tyres while I'm driving my zed so I always opt for the latter (function). I've always used 17" due to the massive choice of tyres available at reasonable prices, but the ease with which NSW 'goat tracks' regularly jump my CD's 'all over the shop' is astounding. I would imagine that 20" wheels with rubber bands on them would be trying to loosen the fillings in your teeth 20" wheels on a zed remind me of the Honda Accords I used to see running round Auburn with 'pizza trays' for wheels
