    hi guys,
    just wondering the differences between a 1997 300zx N/A compared to a 1990 N/A.
i have tried searching this forum, the tech section and Google. but can seem to find any info on the 1997 model.

Different injectors, lower plenum, CAS, fuel rail, cams, adjustable intake gears, front calipers, OBD2, 16bit ECU, rear spoiler, interior trim, brake air guides on the front, airbag on drivers side, other paint options.

    I think thats about it.

Front calipers and discs are different too aren't they?

yep they have the thicker caliper and disc, same as used on the tt's.

also have series 2 ptu , and some of the emissions gear removed, AIV's and (i think) EGR

what are the differences in the lower plenum?

Lower plenum and cylinder heads are different to suit the later injectors with a different spray pattern. The actual injector venturi is a different shape.

so from what i can gather, there is no real differences between the 1996 model and the 97.
as i am able to find info about all years up to 1996, but not for the 1997.
    thanks for the feedback.

So whats the difference in cam shafts? Will series one gears fit series 2 cam shafts? Is the VCT gear any different?

And will a '97 engine bay wiring loom plug into a '90 model loom under the dash?

Length of the intake camshafts is different. Exhausts are the same.

    VVT gears are adjustable too.

Info on up to 96 zeds is easy to come by, usdm cars ceased production in 96 so any info after that is almost only jdm and a bit harder to come by. As far as I am aware there were no mechanical changes to the engines after 97. A later harness will not plug in under the dash, ecu and internal harness connectors are different due to OBD2.
