So s chassis steering racks changed in 1990ish slightly, I'm wondering if z32 racks are the same. Does anybody have a photo of a 1992+ steering rack removed from the car? On the sides of each rack are 2 notches (likely put in for machining/assembly purposes). Now extended bolt on rack spacers won't fit the z32 rack due to the angle of the notches so I was wondering if later model racks are any different.

Will post up a photo when I get a chance.

    Is this a TT rack?
TT racks are identical (Part #49001-42P01) for any TT built between 07/1989 up to 09/1993.
The racks then changed with the introduction of the electric HICAS.

I'm actually running an na rack at the moment. Does anybody know whether the difference in ratios that Nissan quoted are because they are different racks between na and tt or simply because one included hicas and one without?

Hey east coast z are you able to look up and see if the na racks are the same or different part numbers?

Part number 49200-43P00 was fitted to NA's from 07/1989 through to 03/1996.

Part number 49200-43P01 was fitted to NA's from 03/1996 through to the end of production.

Part number 49200-43P01 is the supersession number for 49200-43P00 & is supposedly interchangeable.

Does this mean those extended bolt on spacers (to give a tighter turning circle) don't fit 1990 NA Zeds?

Is anyone using rack spacers to get better turning circle on a daily driven Zed?

Can spacers be put on the other end?

The spacers work by effectively making the rack longer. They have to go between inner tie rod end and the rack because the base of the ball joint is part of the lock stopper system, by spacing that out you allow the rack to move further into the housing.
