    I thought staggered wheels

meant that you have wider rims and tyres on the rear than the front, as I do, not different rim sizes  And I think just get 18" front and back, I would consider getting wider rims and tyres on the rear if I were you retro, better traction :zlove:

I think it would look great actually. I have 17s all round but for some reason on the rear they look smaller, it probably has a bigger wheel arch. as for size, i reckon 235s on front and 255s on rear are perfect for an na (what i have:p ), gives you plenty of traction without going overboard

personally i'd be more looking @ 17s all round for an NA. 8 @ the fronts and no wider than 9s on the back.

if you're after looks then it's 18s hands down. from a performance point of view, NAs aren't as torquey as TTs and with wide 18s which adds unsprung weight with extra rolling inertia, an NA with limited torque running wide 18s will accelerate slower than one running stockies or sensible 17s. true you do get tighter turn ins with 18" wheel and tyres but remember they also weigh more than a 17" wheel+tyre so overall the added unsprung weight isn't helping through a corner unless the 18s are very light.

i've got a MWS video where a worked NA with pod, short shifter, cat back, ECU and underdrive pulley running wide 18s all round and 275 rear tyres only managed a best 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds. quite pathetic really. my car when it was stock as a rock could do that...

    Hard to tell

if the 18's are on the back or the front bhp, must be something to do with tyre profile i'd say!

There's that red/pinkish Show Zed that's been in Autosalon.. It's been in the magazine too.. I believe it had staggerd 17" front and 18" back wheels. It's fairly unusual for people to stagger in this fashion..

It looks like thex-bow prototype might have it though..

    Hi Fleet...

Do you run larger rims on the rear and smaller on the front for better track performance reasons? The 17's on the front, do you run lower profile tyres on them so the front of the car is lower or are they the same height as the rears? I'd like to see some vids of your car on the track if you have any, and some more pics. Looks great and your power figure would make you the second most powerful zed in Aus right? :zlove:

    Cheers

I'm not too sure about fleet's setup, but I'd imagine it to be a level ride height ie lower profile tyres on the back.

    Hmmm

Thats interesting because I was thinking that having higher profile tyres on the front could potentially give you tyre roll probs at high speed cornering ? If you know what I mean i didn't explain that too well...

I've had 19s all round, 235 front 265 rear, 35/30 profile... looks good, but ride was harsh. Swapped to 17s front/19s rear... looked even better; handling was fine in both instances, but ride in and around Sydney was still 'hard'.
Now have 17s all round... 255/40 and 275/40 front and rear; handling fine, ride much better, and feels really nice control-wise. Sorry, no pics...

I had 19s all round too

with 245/35 tyres. They really sucked, like you say the ride is harsh as, I don't know why any one would rather sacrifice so called better looks for driving comfort. I'm running 18's now with 245/40 front and 265/35 rear now. Much smoother driving. You have 255/40 on the front? thats prity wide dude, what width rims are you running?
