The gauges are a smoked lense which are blank when power is off but spring into life at the turn of a key.

i bought some of these off just jap before you guys had them available... but i'm having some issues with mine lately, yet to determine if it's my wiring or the sender unit

if i get my hands on a multimeter, what test can i do on the sender unit to see if it's working properly? with the gauges energised, should i see 12V (or some other voltage) across the sender terminals? a certain resistance?

i need to figure out if mine are stuffed or not!

i'm in

Perth and will probably come down to the tech day, but i'd rather fix it myself before then

oil temp gauge and water temp gauge, both of them are powered up but the gauge is sitting at 50C or whatever teh min is, and isn't rising

this made me check the connections, i'm a bit dubious about the water connection which i will address asap

but i double checked the physical connection on the oil sender unit and it looks right

i have class tonight after work so i can't get under the car tonight, but tomorrow night i'll play with a multimeter to figure stuff out

but if you know what i should expect to see across the terminals of a functioning sender unit (a certain voltage or resistance etc) then that would be an easy way for me to test it out

You can just mount these ontop of your dash......I will get some pictures of an install for you.

 

Do they come in stainless or chrome, are they legal in NSW and how much extra. I am looking at removing my current cd player anyway cos its sh*thouse and replacing with a single height one depending on cost and legality of dash pods

 

Yeah you can get them in chrome. I dont think that it would be illegal as long as it was not affecting your sight and it would not be in a location that could hurt you or a passenger in the event of an accident.

Price wise it wont be much more, ill get some prices on the chrome ones for you.

 

chrome rings on guages are illegal if mounted on a pillar, because they can cause a distraction to yourself and other drivers.

 

What about above centre console on the dash does anyone know

 

I dont think i should be a problem

I have seen them on many cars in that position so I cant see how it would be dangerous or affect sight in anyway.

 

I have been advised by the RTA that anything dash mount or pillar mount is illegal in NSW ill look into getting rid of my ridiculous stereo that doesn't work and get back to you when i have the space, cheers

STILL IN STOCK AND SELLING OUT......

I have one of mine

up on the dash. Have been inspected by the cops, and once they even sat in the car to check it didn't block my line of sight. They said as long as it's not an oil pressure line, etc. it is fine. Note: This is in QLD, may be different for other states. Will post pics soon...

 

OK, I'm home now so here's the pic:



Even though from the outside of the car it looks quite high, because of the slope of the dash, it sits well under your line of sight - and I'm only 170cm tall (short)
