Well, went for a thrash down the 1/4 mile tonight. Wasn't exactly the biggest Zed event, infact it was just me really!! R33k was coming, but was too sick . Anyway, Tammy came down with me and we had a blast. Took 0.5 second of my last run in April. That is what my trans was costing me before the shift kit went in. Anyway, got my arse handed to me by a Lancer Evo, man they launch well !!! There were plenty of rex's and rotaries there too, and a squadron of XR6&8's and V8 commonwhores. Probably only about 30 cars in all, so only about 5 minutes each time to wait for a run. I ran 3 times. Worse time was 13.69, each run improving one one before as my launches improved. I was there at 6:30 and home by 8pm. Anyway, here is a vid of run 1 and 3 for those interested. Probably worth downloading just for my burnout!! PS: Sorry FATE and K-ZED Movie Click here (11 mb)
Re: good stuff greg .. presume tammy did the top video job ..???!!! Sure did barry, I edited out all the shaky bits and the videoing of the floor of the grandstand, hence the number of cuts
Re: Well done Greg  Yeah, I was pleased. Times were improving as the night cooled off and my launches got better. I'm not Naïve to think that 13.493 is an excellent time, but the car for its "supposed" power level is pretty on the money, and at least I had the good taste to do it in a Zed LOL :thumbsup::LOL: Pity I was the only Zed there .
Re: Nicely done, Pex. What stall rpm did you use? I think about 2500 RPM from memory, as TTs seem to be lazy until the turbos start to dance. I have my conzult data logs to look at yet. Also it was spitting with rain too on and off during the evening. Don't know if that had any bearing on the times. The organisers didn't seem to be worried. Here are my time sheets for reference:-
Re: Top effort Greg  Figure I would probably need more mods to go that far (like a FMIC or bigger snails or both ). I have a UDP going on at the 100,000K service I'll upgrade things as they break or fall off the car LOL. I think low 13s would be possible with more practice and maybe better tyres. It's hard to control the power once the turbos fire up.
Well Greg you give me lots of hope with a time like that. Since I have the same auto trick as you and running similar boost, I should get a similar time once the new exhaust goes on. No, I will do better cause my Zed does not have a body kit to weigh it down Anyway's well done mate  I hope to have a time slot beside yours in the 300ZX drag list in the not too distant future.
1/4 mile time not to bad man, these cars really need a good driver i could crack into the 12s easily i think i did a 13.1 last week and did not flat second and missed the gear with only 15 psi filter and exhaust and octane boster to stop the pinging my advice is to flat the accelorater to the floor from the word go and use you clutch only to adjust wheelspin. the launch is most crital my best to date 60 foot is 2.1 if i could get a 1.9-1.8 which is possible judging by the launch when i did my best time i would definately break 12 barrier i never take my foot off the accelerator the whole run though and just ride it for the first gear to stop spin and tramping. what have u done to the car though. I tried to tell a guy down there last week how to drive the car and his was so modded with ecu, boost front mount etc etc and his best was a 13.7 driving make a hell big difference
Re: 1/4 mile time All internals are stock. Trans is auto though Unifilter Pod I have Xtra Boost (16-17 PSI) 2.5" exhaust with divorced dumps (Tuneagent) Unichip engine management (negates the need for Octane booster) Valve body modification for the G/box to make it shift harder. That's basically it. Full UDP kit to come, and maybe the larger SMICs or FMIC, we'll see. Maybe next run I might advance my timing a few degrees with Conzult and see what happens.
Yeah totally agree, I mean the evo is a boxy 4 seater but 6 speed, all wheel drive, turbo, plus heaps of room for passengers and heaps of upgradeability is a damn nice car.
