12v starter motor test

    alrighty guys im looking at buying another motor foir my 300zx the engine is still in the car buy all wiring has been removed and i want to comp test it so is there a way to acrtivate the starter with 12v? if so could someone please show me how its dont

    jumper leads, battery earth to engine earth, battery Pos to pos terminal on starter, short the pos connection to the solenoid terminal usually a spade type with screwdriver or something metal, the motor will activate (prob will spark but harmless) the engine will spin. obviously you will need two people

    Yep the above

    Just make sure your skin is no way near the contacts as high amperage can burn you - a screwdriver as suggested is really good for this as it gives you some distance from the contact arcing

    stsrter testing

    this should help you get the starter motor to turn.

    Remember the Negative battery teminal needs to be connected to the body of the starter motor.

    WARNING ****** As mentioned already do not let the Positive Starter wire touch any part of the starter motor body. This will short circuit the battery and a HUGE spark will result and could possibly weld the positive wire to the motor body which could result in the battery blowing up in several seconds. **********
