Does that sound right boyz or am I hoping for too much. I would be scratching to do a V8 at that pace.
However it does seem a bit slow off the mark even though I hold the brake on while I increase the revs before launching.
On the dyno she was pumping out 188 kw at the rear.... so would you pontificate upon this dilemma that I am faced with. When the speed is up she flies but the take off is a bit sad Unfortunately I have to get off the net sso I lookf forward to your replies tomomrrow:(}) regards John:cool:

    Blipman Beer hooves totally work

That's pretty slow with 180 @ the wheels

are you getting a lot of wheelspin? That kills 0 - 100 times like you wouldn't believe. Also, how is it being measured?Ben

I get easy flat 5sec on street tyres

according to my G-Tech. If you like Luig you can borrow my G-tech to get a more accurate indication of your times.

    i did a 5.4 to 100 on a GTECH

remembering that mine is an autothe trick with a fast time with an auto is to stall it up to about 1500rpm prior to take off, will help a lot
i get NO wheelspin at all apart from when it hits second gear and i breakloose

    5.5 mark?

I thought that around the 5.5 second mark would have been about what should be expected???Are the autos quicker to 100km than the Manuals?? What about the 20% power loss through the trans and the 280hp compared with the manuals 300?Whats faster? I am really interested in everyones 0-100 times. From what I hear G-tech is not very accurate :| the internal accelerometer it uses and all.

    I think.....

for a standing start 0-100 launch, the auto is easier and may get better times than a manual, because it is easier to launch. Manuals are too hard to get an ideal launch, without either spinning the wheels or bogging it down like no tommorow. Well thats me anyway....Cheers

I think its a little slow......

As comparison, in my NA, with a few mods, carrying both myself, bob (hitec bob) and a full tank of petrol, and with the worst launches ever to grace this forum, I managed a 0-100 in 8.2 seconds. This would have been heaps better if I could actually launch the thing and also remove some of the weight. So yeah, 7 seconds for a TT, seems a little slow. Massivechicken, who used to grace this forum often, was able to get around 6.8 seconds from memory in his NA. But you know what they say, practise makes perfect..:)CheersP.s Oh, and speaking of Massivechicken, who ever told me he has a 350z, was wrong, since I asked him only a few weeks ago.

yeah that isnt crash hot..thats more like an

na 0-100km.. u need to give us more detail though. Are you wheel spinning from the launch..if so u are launching at a too high rpm. Also i dont see the point of holding the brake when increasing the revs b4 the launch. Try dipping the clutch all the way in and then reving to the right revs i beleive around 3000 or just under is ideal then dump the clutch.

Thats a pretty slow time u should be sitting

in the mid 5s. First of all you need to use a proper timer.

You gotta learn to stall your convertor at the right load for the perfect take off. If you are currently bogging then you gotta stall the convertor higher. When your stalling look at your boost gauge as well, normally the more boost you make the faster you'll get off the line (obviously no lag), but thats provided your tires have enough traction. If you have a decent set of tires, not only can you step on the brakes but you can also pull up the hand brake while your stalling the car this should get you up to about 2500rpm and make lots of boost. If you got poor grip tires then i'd just stall it a bit and not make any boost like what chickenbum said about 1500rpm. Your initial wheel spin should be no more then a second or two if your launching it right, if its continuous then its just going to get worst and slow you down. If you can launch with boost but no wheel spin then your doing good:YD

    a few things

a few things that helped me in the 100kmh sprint were deleting this philosophy "push the pedal down for as long as you can, as hard as you can"what i need to do in a z is take off under aboout 1/4 throttle and progresssivly push the pedal further down, mainly til the end of 1st, when you hit 2nd you should have full WOT.Dont try and shift your auto manually, as you will decrease your times by a second or two,Use the power button.aim for your target speed of around 140kmh, that way you sprint past 100 at full speed, if not its like running a race, when you approach the finish line you slow down a little.do the tests with no passengers, then try no targas, no boot contents so on,removing my subwooferbox, and passenger took me from a 14.2 @ 106mph to 13.8 @ 109mphsomething to try :)the autos seem to be about .5 sec slower to 100 than manuals, the auto is good above 100kmh tho, but for the sprint the manual seems to win. off the line, autos are hard to beat :)

Full Dodgy way of doing it but,

A mate and I did it with a stop watch a few nights back.
With a launch at 2800 and little wheelspin I'm pretty sure I managed a 6.3 (0-100km/h) now, I'm not saying that's totally correct but maybe next time I'll find someone who owns a G-Tech. =)

    estimate your stopwatch

to be atleast 1-2 seconds out, its not even a close indication of how quick you ran :)whos says your speedo is dead on? maybe you thought you went to 100 but it was 90 or something like that

Thanks boyz sorry I couldnt answer last

    night but had to go.
Ive tried the revs up hold with brakes thingy and thats what I come up with. The car seems sluggish at start and thats where Im losing the time.
I have a popping out of the right exhaust at idle and I strongly suspect an injector not having a good flow at idle and just above and only comes good when the revs are up. The reason I say this is because today I tried on a damp road. I planted the foot and immediately there was wheel spin all the way up to where she went into second and the wheels kept spinning in second for a while and the engine was powering up beautifully ......was I hot !!! yes!
On the dry she wont spin but occasionally squeeks when she hits 2nd if I have the taps wide openAnyway acting my age again and after gaining control of the car as she sidewinded up the road.( for those who are concerned there is no traffic or pedestrians or houses on this road)It was as if that injector came good when it hit the hi revs on the wheel spin and she powered up and was off.
So maybe I need to lift the plenum and pull the injectors and have them cleaned.
However thankyou for the advice, I really dont want to give the Z a bad name by not being able to blow the occasional Hyundai away!! regards John:D
